Minnesota fans were expecting Cris Carter, and thinking Gary Zimmerman had a chance, with Randy McDaniel a longshot. Carter and McDaniel will make it eventually.

I've never understood the rationale behind the sportswriter's not voting someone in on their first or second ballot, but voting them in later. Do they have a number on maximum inductions in one year? If not, what have the retired players done after not getting voted in first time around to change their minds? Certainly nothing on the field of play which should be the only measuring stick for a player to be inducted into a sports hall of fame........xcoffeex

Though I don't remember much because it was so long ago, I watched three of those guys play against McNeese. Darrell Green with Texas A&I, Fred Dean with Louisiana Tech, and Art Monk with Syracuse in the 1979 Independence Bowl.

Was going to say the same thing on Reed....but I think he'll get his due eventually, would have been hard to go in with Monk.

I don't mean to interrupt this thread with complaining, but Derrick Thomas belonged in first. He was probably the 2nd greatest LB in my lifetime behind LT I believe.
