Is sfa qb out for this one?

SFA 93

Hard to say as they always keep this stuff hush hush.

It was a game time decision for Vadlak against UIW, so it sounded like he was probable for that game, as the injury is to his non throwing shoulder.

Coach might not want to risk further injury for the off season, so they might seat him out for ACU as well, but I would expect ACU to rest some key players as well.

It's a great series, no matter who plays, always close.

SFA has won 4 of the last 5 meetings, and 7 of the last 10 since 2015

Our #1 rb is out. But the backups are pretty good. I hope Bowden gets the most of the workload. Kid is a player

McNeese doesn't know who its starting quarterback will be. Sixkiller started the last few games, but he was pulled during the second quarter in the game against Northwestern State. Flores (transfer junior from California) led the Cowboys to victory over the hapless Demons. Goff pretty much said it will be a gameday decision. Regardless, McNeese has resorted mostly to its running game for the last two games.

We are pretty good vs the run. Cant cover the flats in the passing game.

looks like a potential 3-0 thriller

Flores is good with short passes. Sixkiller has an arm, but has a problem being on target except to the other team.
I hope the game is more exciting than your game against Nicholls. I like defensive struggles, normally, but that game almost put me to sleep.

hell, i think i dozed off in 2nd quarter.

But, dont hold your breath, any excitement is gonna be up to yall. Our offense is designed to bore the crap out of the opponents defense and lull them to sleep. If we come out with 2 tight ends, break out the pillow and settle in.

There has been talk of ACU as a potential top-8 seed which would mean a 1st round bye if they can get it, but it is pretty debatable they do get that with a win. Not sure what dynamics might be for coaching staff on resting players. If they think they have a chance to get that top 8 seed and a bye next week then I wouldn't think they would want to rest players. It has been a grueling 3 week stretch for ACU when they had to hold off a late game push by Southern Utah, retook a late 4Q lead vs Austin Peay and then last week they had to empty the tank and score game winning TD with just :19 left. This could be a flat spot for them on the road, out of conference, having locked up the UAC Title and auto playoff bid.

I personally don't know what to expect from ACU Saturday. They will not take the game lightly. I do know that. Their mindset is, "The next game is the biggest game of the year". They have already turned last week's conference championship off and are focusing on SFA. Still, like you say, they have had a really hard 3 week stretch. They have had some minor injuries and players banged up. Others players are back though. ACU wants the higher seed. I don't see them holding out too many players if they can avoid it. My issue has still been our consistency. Have we solved that yet?

I will say with a bit of sadness that the Nicholls Southeastern Louisiana game was more talent laden several years when compared to what I saw last night

For us, it depends on the position. We are obviously down at QB and don’t have the WR depth but we’re more talented across the board on defense. Wish we could get both sides of the ball synced up in the same year but we have what we have. We did manage to win last night without two starters on the O-line and the primary backup for second straight week which speaks to depth up front. They should be back if we’re fortunate to get in.

Honestly, that was where my eyes were focused last night, didn't really see the whole game but saw most of the second half. Was missing Kelly haha

7-5

beat the teams you were supposed to beat and tough losses to IW and Tarly with a loss to SDST and 2 FBS losses....

28th on Massey, not sure if that has been updated after the win last night but it does say up 6 spots

You would be a team that lot's of teams are not going to want to play if you can get into the playoffs and you know I hope you do

I love Eli Sawyer, he's had some big moments for the Lions, and hopefully many more; but if Cole Kelley were still taking snaps, we wouldn't be sweating the bubble on Sunday. No indictment of Eli, just speaks to how good and how valuable Cole was to our program. He was an elevator for those around him as was Bryan Bennett a decade ago. Unfortunately with the portal and NIL, those guys aren't walking through our doors anytime soon - at least not until we get our new field house/athletic training facility built and NIL collective better established. That said, we're finding there is more high school talent available than ever before and we've been able to develop a number of kids from the HS ranks in recent years. Some have moved on to FBS with several starting at power 4/5 programs (Zy Alexander (LSU), Bauer Sharp (Oklahoma), Gage Larvadain (South Carolina) but we're keeping most of them and they've had good careers.

I've really enjoyed this season for what it is/was. Following a brutal non-conference schedule, we were teetering at 1-4, coming off a 3-8 season the year before, and would have been easy to allow negativity to set in - especially after a very winnable game at Tarleton slipped away. But overall, found a way to win most of our close ones after losing those games in 2023. It helped to have an improved defense and stronger running attack but we really do have a strong culture in the program which a direct reflection on Frank Scelfo and his staff. We are very fortunate to have them! I have no doubt we can compete with anyone we would face in the first round and maybe second round depending on who it is. Outside of the Dakota teams and Montana State, we'll give anyone a competitive game if we can sneak in.

Almost. UIW scored a couple of late TD's to make it look worse than it was. SFA is killing ACU.

Yes, great win for the Jacks who improve from 3-8 to 7-5 from last season.

I'll be rooting for ACU, UIW, and Tarleton if they get in the playoffs.

Cards win! The worse officiating ive ever seen. LU threw 2 tds to end game. First they called us on offensive pass interfence. Moved us back to the 20. Last play, an untimed down, td pass to Fuselier. The officiating suckeddddd.

ended the game with our backup qb. Top 2 rbs were out hurt.

I think the rivalry is back in a big way.

Congrats on the win Lamar. It was a wild one with everything you could want and a lot of stuff you don't.
I am surprised a major brawl didn't break out. It was chippy on both sides, and the refs let too much go.
Rivalry games: Jubilation and heroes on one side; devastating heartbreak on the other. See y'all in Beaumont next season (I suppose).
The Cowboys also had injuries and were playing its third QB of the year. Tough to win when you spot the other team a 17-0 lead. Cowboys won six games (almost seven) a year after not winning a game. Will it be enough to save Goff? Cowboy fans have mixed feelings.

SFA93 won the week, predicting the winner in all five games.
Pokefan02 won the overall Pick 'Em for the regular season.
The playoff selection show is this morning (scheduled for 11:30 A.M. Central time on ESPNU and ESPN+). I will have a Pick 'Em poll for UIW and any other SLC team to make the playoffs. Keep your fingers crossed for SLU and SFA.
This has been a crazy year for the SLC and many games you would just have to see to believe. Six teams from the SLC were ranked or were receiving votes at least once during the season.

The refs lost control of this game big time.

i have a couple questions-
—-the stupid lamar tush push. How the hell you supposed to see if he scored or not? I have no clue. And how can you see if the qb threw a punch when hes burried under 20 players? I hate that play.
—-taking nothing away from Barbie, i think hes dang good, but wheres the hometown kid that transferred back?
—where the hell is parking? This was my first trip back to the stadium in a long time. I think we parked in Vinton.

id fire Goff cuz it took him half the game to figure out we dont cover short/medium passes.

He scored easily. Almost entire torso was across the line but he got lost in pile and pushed back before it was unstacked. That’s the downside to that play or any QB sneak on 4th down.

Oh, so you're the one. The city of Vinton is looking for Lamar fans who owe a parking fee.
Citizen transferred from Miami, but is still fighting injuries.

There should be parking on campus. McNeese was selling parking passes for Cowboy Stadium earlier in the week. I didn't know you had planned to attend the game or I would have let you know.
In the campus map, Common Street runs by the football stadium. So campus parking lots off Common Street should be available. In a couple of years, if you plan to come back, let us know early and we can help you out. You won't have to park in Vinton. We can find a closer place to park in Sulphur. See the attachment:

UIW has a first round bye, so no poll this week. Professor Chaos has polls going for all the first round games. If he does this for the second round, just use the one he sets up for UIW and whoever they will play and I will use the votes from there.
