A second winning season since 1999 for Georgetown is on the line Saturday at Fordham, with almost no chance in the final vs. Holy Cross.
Unfortunately, the Hoyas have won only once in the Bronx since 1974.

Based on what? Georgetown has beaten Columbia, smacked around Lafayette by 19 and "snuck" past league leader Bucknell. Holy Cross has proven throughout the season they're in coin-flip games nearly every week. There is no basis to this claim beyond preconditioned thought (history) corrupting rationale.
I'm not saying Georgetown will win but the evidence certainly suggests they'll very much have a chance.

Much like Colgate, Holy Cross' offense has a traditional advantage against a Georgetown run defense that does not have the depth of scholarship teams and wears down by season's end. HC has won eight straight and averaged 33.1 points per game over those eight. Can it happen? Sure, but Georgetown's record in November is not good. It hasn't won a season finale since 2014.

The 'pards are looking for an injury free scrimmage with Stonehill. I would expect Laughyette to be resting their starters after halftime with a huge lead. Leotards, 54-14
Hoyas at the Bronx Zoo for a shot at a winning season and beating their Jesuit cousins for bragging rights. No question Fordham is better than their record, but they can't seem to make the clutch plays and may not have the juice at this point; whereas, I see the Hoyas looking for a nice springboard into next season. Hoyas Rock! 34-24.
Somewhat like Georgetown, Bucknell is playing for some 'new' history. A long suffering program on the cusp of turning the corner....but, I don't see Holy Cross being a corner that can turned. Bucknell's shot will depend somewhat on weather, as their major weapon is their QB transfer, who can light it up. Adverse conditions could be a factor. Also, special teams favor the 'saders. I don't see Bucknell matching the 'saders physically. We dominated Bucknell and beat ourselves. The fight between Lehigh and Holy Cross was a classic, hard hitting slugfest. I don't see the Bison doin the same. Holy Cross, 27-17.
Lehigh faces the ultimate challenge in not having a letdown after an amazing win in Woostah. I fully expect Cahill to have his charges ready. And, the senior leadership of DeNucci, Perri, George P., DJB will have the frosh and sophs focused. I would hope we come out blazing and put away Colgate in the first half so some starters can be pulled in prep for the Leotards. Mountain Hawks continue to soar, 37-17.

Here's a pretty cool short video clip highlighting Gordie Lockbaum's final game against Villanova in 1987. I've long been fascinated by Lockbaum as I'm just old enough to remember seeing him at Taylor Stadium in 1987 but was way too young to put the experience into proper context. Still, at this point still having vivid memories of attending a game at Taylor and seeing Lockbaum play is a treasure.

Go Lehigh,
I'm going to take the counter position here. With the schedule listed, I see it as one "reach" game (OK, maybe a big reach with Bowling Green) and one "take the money and run" game. I don't know Bowling Green's guarantee, but OSU is paying the pards $500,000 + expenses

Those things you have listed have nothing to do with putting your student-athletes in the best position to succeed. If the point of the football program is SOLELY to facilitate financial and marketing agendas then be transparent about it. Starting the season with 3 straight road games including a FBS trip? Way to allow your student-athletes to get acclimated to the semester! And the Oregon trip falls right around midterms. I just can't get behind this....
Lafayette is destined for 4-8/5-7 imo. Granted, as you mentioned, success can determined by various metrics...

Taken to an extreme, why not just then schedule Division III teams and community colleges?
Relying on Davidson (who is getting better) and Marist (a couple of years behind Davidson) as a measure of success is not a practical solution. Wasn't in 2005, isn't in 2025.

I don't think the schedule is absurd with two FBS games (seen a Holy Cross schedule lately?), but what is head scratching is 4 home games in a row in late September/early October. Switch Fordham and GTown around (maybe Stonehill too) and that's a fine schedule to me.
Personally I love the games against Army, Navy, AFA as a preference, but with all of them in conferences those games will be harder to get. Most might not feel this way but I'd love to get a home-and-home with an HBCU with a great band like NCAT, Howard or Hampton, assuming they bring their bands. In that sense I'd prefer watching a game with two full bands playing than a game against a faraway opponent with no game atmosphere. Oregon State though should provide that.

Lafayette 34 Stonehill 17: The 'Pards with a chance to find their mojo before meeting #160 next week at Goodman....
Holy Cross 31 Bucknell 21: As long as HC doesn't turn the ball over their OL/DL should be able to control the game. The health of their QB concerns me though....
Lehigh 27 Colgate 17: The Colgate game last year was arguably Lehigh's worst effort of the season as they no showed. I expect Cahill, and especially Hunt, to have his guys ready to roll....

If I'm W&M, I'm pissed because the Richmond move effectively takes away a non-conference game. Now in an 11-game season, W&M only has one open date available. 8 CAA, Richmond, FBS + 1 more.

I anticipated this despite the 2-deep "declaring" otherwise. Interesting dynamic at play here: similar to 2013 with Shafnisky (Fr)/and the incumbent who was hurt. Shafnisky played well against Colgate in Hamilton but the Sr got the start against Lafayette and everything went off the rails at Goodman.

Just got back from Goodman. A lot of football alums showing up today and a lot of revelry during and after. The 'good times' feel like they are back. Almost 500 yards of offense by the Mountain Hawks to 340 by the Raiders. Aside from a few mistakes the resulted in a couple big gains, the Lehigh defense has become a strong unit. Johnson played the entire game at QB. Not sure if by design or because of Perri's hit at the Holy Cross game. Run game was tenacious. 'gate played strong, but over time Lehigh's OL began opening some nice gash areas. Late in the game #3 RB went 85 yards off tackle for a TD, Jamiel had nice day at WR with 125 yards. Other WR Humphreys, only a soph, should be a beast next year. I'm not sure if Lehigh punted more than once today. Offense was machine-like. I feel so good for the four 5th year seniors who returned and are seeing the fruits of their dedication to turning the program around. Cahill has created an amazing turnaround of the culture. The kids have bought in and are seeing the results of their hard work. They cannnot let up. I know Laughyette would like nothing better than **** on this nice baked cake of a season, which in retrospect should be standing at 9-1, but for self inflicted wounds versus Bucknell and Yale. They team knows the table is now set, and they need to "wash before dinner" focus on the meal at hand. Feeling a lot of pride in how so many have bought into the restoration. The work is not done, but what was once a difficult path to see, now has all the outline of defined road to success. Time to finish the beginning of a renewed Tradition.

Or will everyone else (west and south) move up or band together to form another division/association while Georgetown remains stuck?

A better corollary is Cornell: no outright Ivy titles, last co-championship in 1990, one winning record in the last quarter century (2005), and seems to swing between sixth and seventh in the Ivy each year--never bad enough for last place, but never a serious contender. Recruits see this and go elsewhere.
In 2024, Cornell is... 4-5.

Holy Cross senior linebacker Frankie Monte, who needed assistance off the field late in last week’s 10-7 loss to Lehigh after suffering an ankle injury, started, totaled eight tackles, made an interception that led to HC’s first touchdown and recovered a fumble, caused by senior defensive lineman Joe Townsend, with 47 seconds left to seal the win.
"Frankie is one of the toughest dudes you will ever meet in your entire life,” Pesansky said. “It’s unreal what he did today.”

Consider me a little bit shocked at the downward spiral in Hamilton this year. Major changes needed. You guys were my pre-season PL championship pick -- I couldn't have been further off.
Glass half full -- freshmen on your 0-11 squad in 1995 became the first senior class in the Patriot League to experience the I-AA playoffs.

This has been a fun season for sure. The 2024 football season is a lot like what Patriot League basketball has been like for much of the last 10-15 years. Nobody's really that great, but the traditionally bad teams are better than normal.

I would compare Cornell more to Bucknell and Georgetown more to Columbia. Bucknell is one of those programs where if they have a decent year where they finish strong, everyone thinks they're up and coming. And then the next year they fall on their face and go back to being Bucknell. Georgetown and Columbia are both institutions where it's ingrained in the culture almost that football is a joke and anything above the basement is exceeding expectations. Columbia is starting to shed that a bit now, showing they can compete in the thick of the Ivy race the past few seasons. Disappointing league season overall for the Hoyas (even if they beat HC Saturday) after what looked like a promising start, but I hope the same thing is happening at Georgetown where they cease to be the automatic doormat. Obviously, the athletic aid handicap is the giant elephant in the room there.
