2 PL fanbases will be in Holy Cross' corner this week.

Mighty Bucknell controls its own destiny with 2 weeks to go in the season, what a year it's been!

A second winning season since 1999 for Georgetown is on the line Saturday at Fordham, with almost no chance in the final vs. Holy Cross.

Unfortunately, the Hoyas have won only once in the Bronx since 1974.

Unfortunately, the Hoyas have won only once in the Bronx since 1974.

Based on what? Georgetown has beaten Columbia, smacked around Lafayette by 19 and "snuck" past league leader Bucknell. Holy Cross has proven throughout the season they're in coin-flip games nearly every week. There is no basis to this claim beyond preconditioned thought (history) corrupting rationale.

I'm not saying Georgetown will win but the evidence certainly suggests they'll very much have a chance.

Much like Colgate, Holy Cross' offense has a traditional advantage against a Georgetown run defense that does not have the depth of scholarship teams and wears down by season's end. HC has won eight straight and averaged 33.1 points per game over those eight. Can it happen? Sure, but Georgetown's record in November is not good. It hasn't won a season finale since 2014.

The 'pards are looking for an injury free scrimmage with Stonehill. I would expect Laughyette to be resting their starters after halftime with a huge lead. Leotards, 54-14

Hoyas at the Bronx Zoo for a shot at a winning season and beating their Jesuit cousins for bragging rights. No question Fordham is better than their record, but they can't seem to make the clutch plays and may not have the juice at this point; whereas, I see the Hoyas looking for a nice springboard into next season. Hoyas Rock! 34-24.

Somewhat like Georgetown, Bucknell is playing for some 'new' history. A long suffering program on the cusp of turning the corner....but, I don't see Holy Cross being a corner that can turned. Bucknell's shot will depend somewhat on weather, as their major weapon is their QB transfer, who can light it up. Adverse conditions could be a factor. Also, special teams favor the 'saders. I don't see Bucknell matching the 'saders physically. We dominated Bucknell and beat ourselves. The fight between Lehigh and Holy Cross was a classic, hard hitting slugfest. I don't see the Bison doin the same. Holy Cross, 27-17.

Lehigh faces the ultimate challenge in not having a letdown after an amazing win in Woostah. I fully expect Cahill to have his charges ready. And, the senior leadership of DeNucci, Perri, George P., DJB will have the frosh and sophs focused. I would hope we come out blazing and put away Colgate in the first half so some starters can be pulled in prep for the Leotards. Mountain Hawks continue to soar, 37-17.

Here's a pretty cool short video clip highlighting Gordie Lockbaum's final game against Villanova in 1987. I've long been fascinated by Lockbaum as I'm just old enough to remember seeing him at Taylor Stadium in 1987 but was way too young to put the experience into proper context. Still, at this point still having vivid memories of attending a game at Taylor and seeing Lockbaum play is a treasure.

Holy Cross Lost a tough one and need to see better QB play this week. If so, they should win.

Lehigh Colgate is awful and Lehigh looked good versus Holy Cross.

Lafayette

Georgetown Could be a very tight game.

Is Lafayette struggling to finance their program? This is an absurd schedule imo. I don't see the 'Pards being much of a factor in 2025 with this lunacy.

Go Lehigh,

I'm going to take the counter position here. With the schedule listed, I see it as one "reach" game (OK, maybe a big reach with Bowling Green) and one "take the money and run" game. I don't know Bowling Green's guarantee, but OSU is paying the pards $500,000 + expenses

https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2024/10/oregon-states-piecemeal-2025-football-schedule-costs-millions-less-than-mountain-west-agreement.html

Bowling Green is in that fertile Ohio recruiting ground, and OSU would see some national exposure. I would be excited if Lehigh ever scheduled up like this!

Those things you have listed have nothing to do with putting your student-athletes in the best position to succeed. If the point of the football program is SOLELY to facilitate financial and marketing agendas then be transparent about it. Starting the season with 3 straight road games including a FBS trip? Way to allow your student-athletes to get acclimated to the semester! And the Oregon trip falls right around midterms. I just can't get behind this....

Lafayette is destined for 4-8/5-7 imo. Granted, as you mentioned, success can determined by various metrics...

Give them credit for going beyond the norm. I'd take that over this schedule:

MARIST
LAFAYETTE
at Brown
MORGAN ST.
COLGATE
at Bucknell
FORDHAM
at Lehigh
at Holy Cross

I think that's a very attractive schedule for Georgetown given the specific parameters/limitations they must work around. Allows the program to find success on the field. The challenge is there as well as the opportunity to achieve a winning season.

Taken to an extreme, why not just then schedule Division III teams and community colleges?

Relying on Davidson (who is getting better) and Marist (a couple of years behind Davidson) as a measure of success is not a practical solution. Wasn't in 2005, isn't in 2025.

Have to think that Merrimack and Sacred Heart are looking for games. Get a home/home deal with one/both of them.

I don't think the schedule is absurd with two FBS games (seen a Holy Cross schedule lately?), but what is head scratching is 4 home games in a row in late September/early October. Switch Fordham and GTown around (maybe Stonehill too) and that's a fine schedule to me.

Personally I love the games against Army, Navy, AFA as a preference, but with all of them in conferences those games will be harder to get. Most might not feel this way but I'd love to get a home-and-home with an HBCU with a great band like NCAT, Howard or Hampton, assuming they bring their bands. In that sense I'd prefer watching a game with two full bands playing than a game against a faraway opponent with no game atmosphere. Oregon State though should provide that.

Is Georgetown-Richmond confirmed for rivalry week now? I guess Richmond-W&M will be pushed to early in the season, assuming the "Oldest Rivalry in the South" continues.

Lehigh over Gate. Not an easy W.LU needs to show up with the same intensity this week.
Cross edges by Bison. The game of the week. VeteranOld dog trying to hold on for one more title.
Hoyas over Rams. Got the feeling Rams just playing out the string in a very disappointing season.
Pards over Stonehill in a scrimmage prior to the Rivalry

Fordham 24 Georgetown 20: Since the first half of the Lehigh game the Rams have put forth legitimate effort. Ultimately, I think Fordham's talent wins the day...
Lafayette 34 Stonehill 17: The 'Pards with a chance to find their mojo before meeting #160 next week at Goodman....
Holy Cross 31 Bucknell 21: As long as HC doesn't turn the ball over their OL/DL should be able to control the game. The health of their QB concerns me thought....
Lehigh 27 Colgate 17: The Colgate game last year was arguably Lehigh's worst effort of the year as they no showed. I expect Cahill, and especially, Hunt to have his guys ready to roll....

If I'm W&M, I'm pissed because the Richmond move effectively takes away a non-conference game. Now in an 11-game season, W&M only has one open date available. 8 CAA, Richmond, FBS + 1 more.
