A new problem for Mr. Clemens.

Lawyer: Pettitte can confirm Clemens’ HGH use

Pitcher's testimony on drug use in baseball scheduled for Monday

AP: Tues Jan. 29, 2008

WASHINGTON - A lawyer for Andy Pettitte’s former personal trainer said Tuesday he believes the pitcher will tell Congress he discussed human growth hormone with Roger Clemens between the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

The lawyer, Earl Ward, said Pettitte talked about HGH with trainer Brian McNamee following a conversation with Clemens, who has denied that he used HGH or steroids. McNamee worked with both Clemens and Pettitte.

“We’re hopeful based on Andy’s reputation that he will corroborate Brian’s statements with regard to Roger,” Ward said in a telephone interview.

Obviously they either aren't as close of friends as we thought, or Pettitte doesn't want to end of in legal troubles.

Am I the only one who read this: A LAWYER FOR THE TRAINER-- Not Andy, is stating this.

Andy's lawyer did not state this...

Moreover, McNamee's lawyer BELIEVES Andy will state something...does not guarantee. Furthermore, big DEAL-- I had conversations in 2001 also...with my roommate about HGH.

Does not mean that we used them.

Finally, why would McNapuke encourage Roger to use HGH but then go on to discourage Pettite. Makes no logical sense.

Not saying Roger is innocent in the least-- but to me this is NOT NEWSWORTHY...and is just an attorney using the media to give credence to his client's story.

Following up on dane's comments, I'd find it hard to believe that Clemens would go for the jugular the way he has if Pettitte could confirm his steroid use. I'll wait and see, but in the end I suspect Pettitte doesn't know one way or the other.

Meanwhile, Pettitte's new lawyer for his congressional appearance is the same lawyer Sammy Sosa used. I wonder if he advised Sosa to request the interpreter?

If Pettitte can confirm that Clemens used steroids, it just proves that the brain is the one muscle steroids can't improve. xlolx

I think you pretty much summed it up.xnodx

Good post.

It will be interesting to hear what Pettite has to say.

Clemens will do one of three things: tell the truth under oath when he comes to D.C. or he'll end up looking like an idiot like McGwire, or he'll perjure himself & end up in jail.
