Lehigh - Georgetown is a “loser goes home” game as they’ll all but be eliminated from PLC contention.

Bucknell and Colgate need to win to “extend their season.”

PL race definitely takes shape after this week.

I still think Fordham ends up winning a game. They're bad but not 0-12 bad. Still 3 games remaining at Jack Coffey, including a non-conference to close the season against Merrimack.

I sense that Fordham has a win in them in the League and it will occur this week. They did not quit at Lehigh despite being down by 28 at the half. Rams by 21-17

Bucknell, hard to figure, and Laughyette somewhat beat themselves with choking in clutch situations. Neither team shining in the special teams category, which I always look at in terms of a difference maker in an expected close game. Going with the Leotards strictly on my gut, 28-21.

Hoyas have certainly earned the new found respect, and I am confident the Mountain Hawks will come into DC focused on Movin’ On Up in the PL standings so that the following week’s game will be meaningful. I expect a decent showing of Lehigh faithful in the stands, and on the field, MHawks 34 Hoyas 20

It's crazy to think that Georgetown is a home win over Lehigh and a road win over winless Fordham away from setting up a probable winner-take-all game in DC against Holy Cross.

Yes, but edge to Georgetown who doesn't need "help" elsewhere. Go 3-0 and they win it all.

I take that back -- they'll need Colgate to drop one of their next four games.

It's not an excuse but our former AD (now at St. John's) put us in a bad spot to begin with. Not just in terms of getting wins with all those many road games to start the season, but even in terms of attendance. Cold November games usually = empty seats in the Bronx. Three of those games scheduled for what as of now is still a winless team? Unless they're doing a double header w/soccer, I'm not sure what the plans was for actually selling tickets.

Maybe not to Lewisburg but a whole lot of folks will be traveling on 80 West to State College! With OSU/PSU kicking off at Noon you're bound to encounter increased volume if you leave later. Depending on how quickly the Lafayette-Bucknell game moves, the way back might be even more adventurous! Be safe!!

Are you referencing Brendan's downtown? If so, yes! I stopped there in 2021 when Lehigh played in Lewisburg. It's a great town! That area of PA is really pretty; rolling farmland and commanding mountains in the distance. My first trip to Bucknell was either in 1989 or 1987 as a young kid. It was right before some much needed TLC was given to CMS. Lehigh fans used to travel out there in droves; at its peak probably 4-5k; outnumbered Bison fans 4/5-1

Correct.

Bull Run another solid option, but that doesn’t have nearly as cozy of a feel to it. Food isn’t great either. But solid spot with plenty of seating and beers for a quick one pre or post game.

Good warning. A few years ago I traveled to Bucknell for a Lehigh game and the Nit Pickers had a big home game with a significant opponent. What typically is a 1:50 minute drive for me, took 3 hours. Made it for second half kickoff 🙄. Plan ahead.

Don't think Cahill will alter the QB mix much if at all. Machalik may get more snaps tho. This will be a LOS battle with LU having the edge on both sides. Hope to see some big strikes thru the air as a result.

Rooting for Buckies bit Pards have better and more skill players.

The play calling is weird. They had 2nd and 1 and ran it twice, then on 1st and 10 they take a "shot" on a wheel route with no hope of completion, get 8 yards on second down, then run on 3rd for nothing then have a botched roll out/pass option play on 4th down.

It may not be Rob Sgarlata's worst loss by sheer points, but one of its worst games of the last decade and a major step back for the program.

When is their next win? May be September.

Wasn’t really a fumble. DiNoble throws the ball to LT who drops it like a hot potato. This is after having first and goal at the 3. Another pathetic effort by the Leopards, just like against Georgetown. This team is hard to watch.

Bucknell over Lafayette isn’t all that surprising.

After last week’s tough loss to Holy Cross, their shot at winning the PLC was over. Probably hard to get up for these games now. Plus, for whatever reason, Lafayette’s lost something on offense this year. DeNobile doesn’t look nearly as good as last season.

Bucknell, with Rucker, is a tough out. They actually control their own destiny. Win out and win the league.

K-State's Avery Johnson might have the star rating and blistering fast 40 time yet Lehigh's Hayden Johnson is every bit the QB, especially as a freshman.

Bummed K-State lost but it's nice to have Lehigh "back"! Temple didn't play today so no loss was taken there, in fact basically a quasi-win, and Syracuse won a thriller against Virginia Tech plus Penn State lost! Solid Saturday....

Premature calling Lehigh back, IMO.

I suppose it’s all relative. Back to be respectable and competitive, sure. But not back to where Coen had them…yet.

Back to meaningful football and should be able to post a winning record. The talent on this team is absolutely legit. This team feels like a better version of the 2015 squad. Next week resembles the Colgate game that year in terms of being a benchmark for a young team. They came up 9 yards short on a cold, snow showery day; I was there. We'll see how next week goes.

Holy Cross is the only PL institution I've never been to for a football game. Ironically, I stayed in Worcester the night before the 2016 UNH playoff game and briefly checked out the school so I've seen parts of the campus/Mt. Saint James. I have the itch to drive up so long as the Volvo dealer has my part (likely a wheel bearing or tire rod) and my car gets taken care of. The only caveat, I'm not a big fan of driving at night in the fall. Especially through the Catskills/Poconos. It's like driving through a zoo....

Holy Cross had 10,000 fans watch them beat Fordham a couple of weeks ago. I'm real curious to see what the attendance will be next week. Hype that Lehigh will be able to play in such a big-time non-Lafayette game next week.

Susquehanna has been strong in D3 for the last number of years, and is the clear class of the Landmark Conference (which added football prior to the 2023 season; Susquehanna, Moravian, and Juniata, all Landmark Conference members in other sports but previously Centennial Conference football members, went to their "home" conference when football became a conference-sponsored sport). Their game with Moravian, which has had a good season, is probably the second or third-best Landmark team this season (it looks like they and Wilkes are the best of the rest in the conference), and was undefeated in conference play going into yesterday, essentially was for the conference title. Susquehanna clinched a D3 playoff berth with their 49-34 win yesterday. (Even though the Greyhounds lost, they still had a solid performance, staying competitive for most of the game with a Susquehanna team that has thoroughly outclassed them in recent seasons.)

In person in Lewisburg yesterday I would say 250 max. I guess attendance is always tix sold (which I hate). Hardly any BU students. I would say we equaled the home side. Nevertheless Steward was out again and they could double Carascia. My first loss at Lewisburg ever. Went 1982 (in college) 86, 2012, 2022 and yesterday. I guess fitting as it was the 100th anniversary this year of Christy Mathewson Stadium. Plaque inside stadium said it was dedicated to him Sept 30, 1989 - 35 years ago. Before I think it was known as Memorial Stadium. Said hello to an older Bison alum and found out he lived in Easton and grad from BU and is Roger Connors, Jr - his dad made Sport Illustrated years back as he had went to 50 consecutive Lehigh-Lafayette games being resident of Easton. I remember seeing his honor in that years (1983?) program of hitting 50 and thinking Im going to try to match. This year will be my 45th! Im gaining! Never missed one dince frosh year 1980. Damn coldest by far 1987. Warmest prob the classic double OT game in 2009.

That's a depressing observation! CMS/Bucknell has long been a favorite "little roadie" (about 2 hours, 100 miles) given the bucolic nature of the area. CMS is also the best "track stadium" in the country to watch a football game since it feels like you're right on top of the action despite the 8 lanes of glory between you and the field.

Pre-SAT Bucknell (reasonable) and Michigan (reach) were my schools of choice, post-SAT it was Temple and Syracuse....lol. I hate standardized entrance exams; GRE be damned too! But I digress. I know Ngineer's daughter went to Bucknell and seemingly had a quality experience. Bucknell had/has a conservative reputation which appealed to me as someone who wasn't into the Greek/party scene. This might explain the apathy towards athletics?

What would bring people to Bucknell football? Unlike Leh/Laf, HC, or Fordham, the majority of its alumni live over 100 miles from the campus, so it's not a realistic option for people to drive from Philadelphia, DC, or New York (and back) for a Saturday noon game. But probably more impactful is the lack of memories for fans to return to. You've got the 1965 MAC championship (for the over 80 set) and the 1996 PL title, and not much else. In one of its media guides, it lists the top 10 games in school history. Outside of the 1996 PL title vs. Colgate, the most recent game was in... 1972.

Bucknell's stadium is a beautiful hidden gem, a tiny gem in campus. It feels like with a little bit of work the Bison could be a decent Patriot League program, but they've chosen to devote it towards Sojka and hoops. If Colgate can do it, why not Bucknell?

Recovering a following for a football program which has languished is not a snap of the fingers. Rucker and the freshman RB Tariq Thomas are giving the Bison some offensive excitement and a chance in the last three games. Going forward, 5-7 would be more than expected. 6-6 would be a great season. 7-5, a PL title and playoff trip would be wild. We haven't been in such a position, except for the COVID Spring season.

But yep, we alums don't just 'drop by' Lewisburg. People are watching, though. Yesterday's result caused a ripple among my classmates. Bucknell has a lot of work to do draw the region back. Central Pennsylvania knows and appreciates good football. Having a good product is a start. There has been a huge investment in facilities and yes, CMS is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon in the autumn.

Oh, and it looks like hoops is back.

Ray Bucknell..Since we wont be PL champs rooting for parents '61 and brother '86 alma mater AND because I found my beloved Siete cat on the 7th hole of BGC in a tree back in July 2017. My two brothers, nephew and I always do a BGC golf trip for 2 or 3 mights in mid summer. I PARRED number 1 this summer after playing it since 1977 (when I was in high school!). Best score there (when I was golfing more) a 95 I believe it was July 1993. That DAMN 18 green NEVER EVER holds any of my shots!!

My daughter went to Bucknell and only attended two football games in four years...When Lehigh was the opponent, and she sat with her Dad and cheered for the Brown & White..as she has always done! We have always out attended Bucknell in their own venue. A real head scratcher...even recognizing they have been a basketball/swimmng/lacrosse focused school for decades. This year's Rivalry Game will be my 54th...missing only one in 1976 when a threat of snow kept me from driving back to Lehigh Valley from Detroit as I had a hearing Monday a.m. that I could not afford to miss! Will have daughter and granddaughters in tow this year at Goodman for #160!
