Not sure what you mean by that. I think anyone would agree that home field is an advantage, to varying degrees depending on the crowd (size, participation, etc.), effects of travel, etc. One thing to remember.... oddsmakers often don't know jack about FCS. Not saying that's the case here, but if someone knowledgeable about FCS scours the odds of FCS games, you can usually find a game or 6 where you go.... they're only giving up that many points or they're giving me that many points?!? I've won $1100 off a $2, 6 or 7 leg parlay, in part because I gave up several more points to MSU's opponent than oddsmakers, changing the payout from like -118 to +125, and they still covered.

That said, Massey has UNH winning by 7, so..... is Massey way off the mark, or are the oddsmakers giving a slam dunk? I haven't seen them play (Flo) so I don't know, but going off of box scores, I took UNH in the Pick Em.

Not sure what I mean by it either honestly - I think both teams are untested- should be a good game.

Sorry my original message did not come through correctly. Meant to be URI Opens as 7.5 point favorites but lines have moved to 3.5. I frequently see FCS line changes but usually within the last 2 hours before a game, Like Monmouth Delaware moved like 7 pts in 3 hours leading to game. This moved 4 pts immediately.

When they move like that, it's because the oddsmaker completely missed the boat compared to what the masses are thinking. If they had URI -7.5, probably in the -108 to -125 payout range, I would imagine people in the know (FCS fans) flocked to putting money on UNH. If they had URI as the favorite, I would have put a bet down on UNH to win at probably +200 or more.

Sadly, I am stuck with SportsBet MT, run by the State, and they don't release FCS odds until Sat. morning, with the exception of the MSU and UM games, so I have to drag my ass to a kiosk at a bar on Saturday morning, before 10am local time if I want to bet on east coast games (rarely, since I don't follow that as closely as Big Sky and, to a lesser degree, MVFC).

ot on my game today, I meant UNH opened as 7.5 faves and moved to UNH still favored by 3.5.. still- 4 pts within first couple hours is rare for a game like this from what I have seen. At least in MT you are allowed to bet on college spors team in own state. I cannot bet on MOnmouth in NJ. I live close enough to NY that there are ways around it then o course there are real bookies, but by law, cannot .

Sports betting isn't legal in Jersey??? Isn't Atlantic City a major casino town? Seems wild you wouldn't be allowed to bet on Draft Kings or similar sites.

Yes, that is actually insane. Can you attribute this to anything? Wild stats.

No dude- haha, of course it is- But certain states have laws where you CANNOT bet on college teams in the same state. So like I cannot bet on Monmouth, Princeton, Seton Hall (hoops) Rutgers WHILE IN NEW JERSEY. No sportsbooks can legally carry the game. There are several states where this is the case. An absurd state law if you ask me, but it is indeed true. One of my biggest scores ever was when Monmouth beat Nova at Nova in 2022, our first year in The CAA- I was able to transfer to Fanduel Pennsylvania and I laid into it. Money line, with the points, the start of like 8 different parlays. Had I not been at the game I could not have bet it as there is no such law in PA.

Nothing tangible. UNH fans are not exceptionally loud, and student attendance varies a lot from game to game. I'd say once you firmly establish the existence of a home field advantage both friend and foe come to believe it. Fans come to Wildcat Stadium with the expectation UNH will win. I used to live close to JMU and would go to about 3 JMU games a year. The JMU fans and team absolutely dreaded coming to Durham, NH.
