NHL is back! I really am looking forward to the season, perhaps the year break did some good. However, I did some quick browsing for tix today for the Caps opener, and for me to take the wife and two kids is about $175 to sit in the upper level. That's what I pay for all four of us for Hens season tix for seven home games. If I wanted to take them to the preseason game against the Flyers and sit in the lower level, it would cost me $307.40.

Yes the NHL is back and we are pumped in Chicago...With the additions of Khabibulin, Aucoin, Barnaby, LaPointe, and with youngsters such as Calder, Arnason, Bell, and Bourque, The Hawks should have a very good season for the first time in quite awhile

You all need to find yourselves some college hockey to watch. Much cheaper! :)

Georgetown actually plays 1 mile from my house and it's free! Of course it's only club hockey.

Hockey is back, hell yeah! Bruins resigned some key pieces of their club: Thornton, Samsanov. Picked up Brian Leetch and Shawn McEachern. They should be a favorite in the East.

Agree with 13, the college game is far superior to the NHL. Which is why some of the new rule changes making the NHL more like college are such a big improvement, in my book.

However, it's really sweet to see Islanders 5 - Rangers 1 again :D

My choice is High School and NHL hockey.
I just might be spoiled by Minnesota High School hockey.

Hey, you run into any smart kids that are D-I talent, tell them to look up Colgate! :)

We just got two kids from Shattuck St. Marys, Jason Fredericks (http://athletics.colgate.edu/MHockey/bios/Fredricks.htm) and Mark Anderson (http://athletics.colgate.edu/MHockey/bios/Anderson.htm). Ever heard of them?

Shattuck doesn't play in the Minnesota State High School League. They travel nationally. They would probably win a lot of titles if they were members. They send most of their players off to DI hockey programs. Shattuck is where I first heard of Sidney Crosby, played for Shattuck as a Soph. The Gophers usually get dibs on the top players in the state. UND seems to have an "in" with Shattuck. I think former NHL player JP Parise is there AD.

That's good to hear that Shattuck is that good.

We do have a kid from the MSHSL - Justin Kowalkoski (http://athletics.colgate.edu/MHockey/bios/Kowalkoski.htm) from the Blake School. He's a back up goalie that might never see ice time, but he's the only other kid from MN we got. 3 out of 24 aint't bad for a school in NY. Especially when you consider 17 out of the 24 are Canucks - almost half of our US players came from way up there!
