Ever since the conference part of the season began, I seem to have fallen off. That may be due to the parity that is running through the conference, or it could just be that I am not as good a picker as I once was. Either way, I am currently at 45-12 for the year. Everyone plays this weekend in the conference and I have another chance to be perfect. Here are my picks for this weekend's Big Sky Conference games.
NAU at UM...Smarting a bit from their close loss last weekend on the road, the Lumberjacks move on another tough place to play, but yet another shot at a good road win. The Grizzlies vaunted defense seems to have taken the last two weeks off, and they need it to return in a hurry. This game may be a little less scoring...UM 31, NAU 24.
PSU at ISU---How will the Vikings respond after having a sure victory slip through their fingers on the last play last weekend? The Bengals enjoyed a high scoring affair down in California last weekend in earning a hard fought win. This game may be one of those old time high scoring bouts in the Pocatello barn...PSU 48, ISU 45.
CP at UCD---The Mustangs came close to getting their second conference win last weekend while the Aggies finally eked out victory on the last play of the game last week. The Mustangs have shown this season that they will play with anyone so the Aggies do need to come ready. They should have little trouble here...UCD 35, CP 21.
UNC at WSU---The offense for the Bears seems to have gone missing in the first two games of conference play, while the Wildcats have been rolling in conference play. The Bears defense has not been able to shut anyone down and the Wildcats showed last week they can score on any defense, including this one...WSU 45, UNC 14.
EWU at SAC---The two teams that took last week off face against each other this week. The Eagles started off with a bang but their defense doesn't seem to be able to stop anyone. That bodes well for the Hornets who are trying to get back to winning after dropping their conference opener on the road...SAC 37, EWU 21.
UI at MSU---The game of the week in the conference and maybe nationally as well. Both the Vandals and the Bobcats are near the top of the polls and both have beaten the FBS Mountain West earlier this season. This game could possibly decide seedings in the playoffs later on so both will want to get a win...MSU 21, UI 17.

I'd be really surprised if Mercer lost to Princeton.

Conference standings starting to sort itself out. Opportunities to shake it up this week.
NAU 24 @ 32 UM --- This game has suddenly has more intrigue with the direction of each team this season. NAU moving up and UM sliding down. Missoula is a tough place for visitors to win and this home field advantage gives UM the edge. I thought this last week and ended up wrong, but I will do it again.
PSU 17 @ 31 ISU --- The Vikings could not get the W at home last weekend: What makes me think they will get one on the road? And the Bengal dome can be a hard place to play for visiting teams.
CP 17 @ 35 UC Davis --- After squeeking out a road win last weekend, UC Davis returns home to take on an in-state rival. The Aggies should easily win this one.
NC 13 @ 38 Weber State --- The BBQ has a pattern of winning every other game. (Or is it losing every other game) To continue that pattern they will need to lose. But this is in Odgen against the celler dewellar.
EWU 24 @ 34 Sac --- Both teams coming off of a bye. Sac needs to get some W's to help impress the Pac and MW for a conference invite.
UI 20 @ 28 MSU --- Idaho in another FCS game of the week candidate. MSU finally getting something tougher than a cupcake.

NAU 27 @ UM 31 - After dropping the game to Weber last weekend, the Griz should have a sense of urgency against an upstart NAU team. That, combined with home field advantage, should propel them to a narrow victory.
PSU 31 @ ISU-o 37 - This has the makings of a shoot out. Home dome advantage is just enough to snag PSU's best chance at a W in 2024 until the finale vs. UNC
Cal Poly 17 @ UC Davis 38 - Poly gave the Bengals all they could handle last week, but Davis is not ISU and Poly is on the road for this one.
UNC 10 @ WSU 41 - Weber stunned most FCS aficionados with their win in Wa-Griz last weekend. This could be a trap game with a trip to Sacramento up next... naaaaah. It's still NoCo.....
EWU 26 @ Sac State 31 - Both teams have had an extra week to stew over their last game, EWU letting a W vs the Griz slip away and Sac getting a pretty good thumping in Flagstaff. The Hornets have more to play for though.
Idaho 20 @ MSU 28 - This is the Bobcats' first challenging game since late August, pitting a solid Vandal defense (2nd in the Big Sky) vs. MSU's vaunted rushing attack (2nd in FCS). Home field may induce a few costly penalties for Idaho and MSU's run game finally wears their D in the second half.
It's a sweep for the home teams.

I'm thinking there will be one road team that wins this weekend. Which one, though, is challenging. That's why I went with my homer pick. xnodx

If they score less than 40, I'll be shocked.

Depends on who starts for NAU at quarterback. Pennington gives NAU a chance - don’t see much chance for NAU if their backup QB that came in last week after the Pennington injury is forced to play - a big drop off there.

Cal Poly 17-34 Davis — The Aggies shouldn't need a controversial game-ending TD this time… right? xrotatehx
EWU 31-49 Sac State — Both teams coming off byes that followed painful losses.
Portland St. 35-41 Idaho St. — The desperate Vikings stay winless after visiting The Barn 2.0
NololColol 13-37 Weber — Classic letdown situation… which wouldn't be nearly enough to lose to NoCo xlolx
NAU 27-31 Montana — Lumberjack QB injuries allow the Griz to eke out a Homecoming win
Idaho 24-27 Montana St. — The Bobcats face their first real test since August 24th.

Don't hate seeing 48-14. Good memories of Cat/griz.
