CAA Pick'em Week 7 2024

Towson at Norfolk State 2 pm- Towson is a top 4-5 CAA team

It feels like the mid-season stretch (already?) as the CAA brings in a very light schedule week 7:

CAA games

MAINE (1-1, 3-2) @ DELAWARE (5-0)
Bears coming off a bye while the Hens are coming off a big win at Monmouth. UD leads the series 26-11 and won the last match-up 34-24 in 2021. Maines last win in the series came in 2016. The Hens 5-0 start matches their start in 2022 which ended @ W&M in a 21-27 loss. I think the Hens move it to 6-0 this year with a win - however given the dynamics of a bye and coming off an emotional win could set this up as a potential upset.

UALBANY (0-1, 2-3) @ BRYANT (0-1, 2-3)
Teams come in with identical records and both coming off road wins at Ivy League opponents. Danes lead the series 3-2 though this will be the first match-up as conference rivals. UAlbany won the last match-up in 2019, 45-3. The Bulldogs won’t get rolled as badly this year but will be on the short end of this game.

#21 UNH (1-0, 3-2) @ ELON (0-1, 1-4)
The big story in this game is Elon’s home losing streak, 3 consecutive losses at Rhodes Stadium. The Phoenix are also coming off a much needed bye, a chance here to regroup. The Wildcats lost a tough game @ Harvard last Friday night though still come in with a 1-0 conference mark. UNH leads the series 6-2 and won the last match-up, 40-22 in 2022. I just can’t see Elon losing a 4th consecutive home game and with two weeks to prepare, I think they pull out a tight one here.

The Governors Cup
Brown (2-1) @ #20 URI (2-0, 4-1)
The Rams rallied again - the 3rd time this season - to pull out another late game victory this past weekend, this time at Hampton, 46-44 in OT. The trend has to be a significant confidence booster as URI moves along, this time in a big neighborhood rivalry. Brown comes in after suffering an upset loss to CAA rookie Bryant this past weekend. Brown has dominated the aging series here, 73-32-2. URI however has won 5 straight in the series including a 34-30 win last year. Anything can happen in a rivalry like this but I like the chances of this ascending URI team to punish Brown and put them 0-2 against the CAA.

TOWSON (1-1, 2-3) @ Norfolk State (2-5)
Tigers came off a bye and tough opening schedule to take down W&M this past weekend. The Spartans have already played 7 games and struggled in most. The Tigers keep the momentum moving in this one and will be a factor going down the stretch in the CAA race.

Delaware- Maine plays tough for 3 quarters before falling behind by 10
URI- If Bryant can beat Brown.......
Towson- Hopefully this isn't a future CAA matchup with UD leaving next year..
