The 1986 NAU at Idaho game was a shocker - NAU won 24-0 over a very good Vandals team went 8-3 in the regular season but lost to #1 Nevada in the playoffs.
NAU also had a good team, finishing 7-4, but no playoffs. NAU had a chance to win the Big Sky in it's final game, but fell to #1 Nevada 27-17 in Reno (a game I attended).
What makes the score even more unique is the one all-time NCAA ALL-DIVISION record set in that game:
Goran Lingmerth scored all 24 of NAU's points with 8 field goals - the most fields goals by a single team/kicker in any college game.
The 24 points is the FCS record for most points scored by a kicker in a single game, and tied for the most in any college game (two FBS kickers had extra points as well).
