Nice schedule - good OOC with Navy, Morgan St (local rivalry), Coastal, and Columbia. Going to be a tough last 5 weeks in the season though - 3 road trips to UNH, UD, and nova with home dates of W&M and JMU (their CAA rival :p ).

Last 5 weeks is hard for anyone in the CAA. Especially the South.

FOOTBALL: Tigers To Play Very Challenging 12-Game Schedule This Season

TOWSON, Md. – For only the second time in the history of the program, the Towson University football team will play a very challenging 12-game schedule in 2008, it has been announced by Director of Athletics Mike Hermann.

This marks the second time that Towson has played 12 games in a season. Towson University also played 12 games in the 2003 season and posted a 6-6 record.

The Tigers, who played the fifth-toughest schedule in NCAA FCS last year, will open the season with a milestone game as Towson University faces an NCAA BCS (formerly Division I-A) opponent for the first time. Towson opens the 2008 season on Saturday, August 30 against the U.S. Naval Academy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. The Midshipmen posted an 8-5 record last year and lost to Utah in the Poinsettia Bowl.

After opening their season on the road, the Tigers host Morgan State in their home opener on Saturday, September 6. It will be the 21st meeting between the two local rivals.

The Tigers’ home opener against Morgan State will be the first of six home games at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium. Towson will also host Columbia on September 27 before facing four Colonial Athletic Association rivals. The Tigers host Northeastern on October 4, Rhode Island on October 11, William & Mary on November 1 and James Madison on November 22.

In addition to visiting Navy in the season opener, the Tigers will also visit Richmond on September 13, Coastal Carolina on September 20, New Hampshire on October 25, Delaware on November 8 and Villanova on November 15.

“It’s very exciting for our football program to play our first-ever BCS opponent,” says Coach Gordy Combs, who will be starting his 17th season as the Tigers’ coach. “Once again, we are going to be facing a very challenging schedule – but that’s life in the CAA. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and having everyone healthy again.”

Five of the Tigers’ opponents advanced to the post-season in 2007. While Navy played in the Poinsettia Bowl, Delaware, Richmond, James Madison and New Hampshire advanced to the NCAA FCS playoffs. Delaware finished the season as the national runner-up to Appalachian State while Richmond, which dropped a 23-21 decision to Towson in 2007, lost to Appalachian State in the national semi-finals.

The Tigers, who will be playing their 40th season of football in 2008, will be facing two first-time opponents during the upcoming year. In addition to playing Navy for the first time, the Tigers will be facing another first-time opponent in Coastal Carolina. The Tigers’ visit to Coastal Carolina is the first game of a four-game series with the Chanticleers.

The Tigers will be facing Columbia for the third time. Towson and Columbia played in New York in 1997 and 1999. The Lions pulled out a 16-6 decision in 1997 and won by 28-13 in 1999. Columbia will be making its first visit to Towson and the Tigers make a return trip to Columbia in 2010.

Columbia is the first Ivy League team to play the Tigers since Towson edged Cornell in 2004.

Despite the fact that the Tigers will be playing an additional home game, Towson University will not raise season ticket prices. Season tickets will remain priced at $75 for the Gold Chairback seats and $50 for the Benchback seats. In addition, season tickets for Youth Benchback (17 years old and under) will be available for $30.

“In an appeal to the Baltimore sports community, we have kept our primary season ticket price at $50 for our six home games, which is one of the lowest season ticket prices in our outstanding league,” said Hermann. “Towson is proud to compete in the CAA, which has distinguished itself as the best NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference in the nation, sending five teams into the NCAA Playoffs last season.

“Our football program has provided a competitive, and often thrilling, team to cheer for on the football field,” Hermann adds. “With the atmosphere and entertainment around Unitas Stadium, coupled with the outstanding brand of football, Saturdays at ‘the U’ have become one of the most affordable family-friendly entertainment opportunities in our region. A family of two adults and two kids can attend our six home games for less than $30 per game. It’s quite a bargain.”

Single game tickets are priced at $12 when purchased in advance and $15 on Game Day. Youth tickets will be available for $8 in advance and $10 on Game Day.

On offense, yes we should be healthy and one year older. Defensively, losing Brian Bradford is going to hurt.

Nope, UNH is only playing 11.

With week one and week six open on their schedule, I'm assuming that they eliminated week six from scheduling because they didn't want to play 12 consecutive weeks. And with five at home and six on the road, I also assume they wanted a 12th game to be a home game. Not sure if they looked for an opponent for week one, but I know they were unable to locate another home game in order to release Albany.
