No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic beats Federer.

Federer lost to No. 3 Djokovic 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (5) in the Australian Open semifinals Friday.

Maybe he is human after all?

I'm kinda happy about that - not a big Federer fan. Of course, I wasn't a big Sampras fan either. I like a little emotion - doesn't need to be over the top, but something. For instance, I like Tiger.

Amazing. I guess I just always expect him to win. Federer can't erase Sampras records fast enough for me, though.

Tsonga's beat down of Nadal may have been more impressive.

If you liked emotion, you must have liked either Connors or McEnroe.

Not entirely fair....Nadal has been nursing injuries for quite a while, and basically refuses to take any time off to heal (his own damn fault, I know) because of his desire to compete. But he's young, we haven't seen the end of him yet, not by a longshot. xwhistlex

Now Federer....dunno, I think we're seeing the downslope of his career right now. xreadx

I did actually, and I liked Agassi as well. I don't think it needs to be as overboard as some of those guys, but a little something something every now and then is nice.

We'll see. I think the Australian Open favors the players who work harder to stay in shape in the off season (part of the reason Agassi did so well in it). Wimbledon and the U.S. Open will be much more telling about Federer IMO.

Me too. Especially Agassi.

I'm a Federer fan, but it will be nice to see someone other than him or Nadal win a Slam. Should be a great final. xnodx

Wait a sec. Fed lost to the number 3 person in the world. He had to drop out of an exhibition tournament less than a week before the Australian Open with a severe stomach virus. That may have had an effect on how he played. I think its a little early to call him on the downslope of his career.

Last year in 4 Slams and a Tennis Master Cup in November, Fed won 4 and went to the finals in the 5th.

The guy Fed lost to made it to the finals of the US Open last year and in one tournament last year in Canada beat Roddick in straight sets in the quarters, Nadal in straight sets in the Semis and then beat Fed in the finals in 3 sets (best 2 of 3). Djokovic is really good and how about saying there is one other guy who is damn good and he is even younger than Nadal is.

As for Tsonga's beat down of Nadal, it was more impressive. Nadal had yet to lose a set all tournament and got destroyed by Tsonga. That is impressive. Give Tsonga credit, he went after Nadal and beat him. Just like he beat Murray, Youzhney and Gasquet. Nadal was playing really well before that match. Don't blame it on injuries.

So crying after winning the AO last year doesn't count as emotion? xconfusedx

Why are all Mary & Bill grads so pissy?
