Fordham at Monmouth-normally this would be the "trap" game but Rams look like they are reeling and our O just too good.
Delaware State at Campbell- could be close.
Richmond at Elon- sort of a tough call
Morgan State at Stony Brook- told ya'll they not as bad as everyone thought
Maine at UAlbany- a loss here and Albany gets erased from relevance just like that
Sacred Heart at Delaware-
NC A&T at S.C. State- no clue
LIU at Villanova- LIU fails to keep a game close this time
Hampton at W&M

Week 5 games

Conference games:
RICHMOND (2-2) @ ELON (1-3)
There’s a lot riding on this opening match-up, particularly for Elon who has dropped two consecutive home games vs So Con opponents. The Spiders have won two consecutive games, scoring 38 points in each. The paper favors Richmond here but at same time, hard to imagine the Phoenix dropping a third consecutive home game. UR leads the series 10-5 though it’s tighter as CAA rivals, 6-5. Richmond won last year, 38-24.

HAMPTON (3-1) @ W&M (3-1)
Conference opener for both and Family Weekend in Williamsburg. Expect a competitive game and one the Tribe best not be complacent. Tribe rushed for near 400 yards in last outing vs Furman - if they ball control, should be a good outing. Tribe is 9-0 all time vs Hampton, 2-0 as CAA rivals. W&M won last year m, 31-10, a late rally in Q4. As CAA rivals, this game has been closer each time than expected but both games were also at Hampton.

MAINE (2-2) @ UALBANY (1-2)
Bears rebounded past weekend, a come from behind win at Merrimack while the Danes coming off a bye. Interesting opener and I think a tough pick. Danes have home field which could be the difference. Bears lead the series 10-7 though UAlbany has won the last two including last year, 37-21.

The rest:
Fordham (0-4) @ MONMOUTH (2-2)
Hawks flying high on two game win streak and picked up the leagues flagship W at FIU on Saturday. Hawks rolling on the scoreboard with, averaging 40 ppg. Rams meanwhile are tanking. I think Monmouth rolls here. They lead the series 3-2 though lost last game, 49-52. This is the last CAA/PL match-up this year. CAA is 5-2 vs PL and should make it 6-2 with this one.

Delaware State (1-3) @ CAMPBELL (1-3)
Camels have dropped two straight, both league games, slight favorites in both. I think they will stop the bleeding this weekend against the Hornets. Camels are 2-1 all time vs MEAC opponents, 1-0 vs DS.

Sacred Heart (2-2) @ DELAWARE (3-0)
Hens struggled Saturday vs Penn but should have no problem with the Pioneers, losers to Stonehill on Saturday. This series is actually tied 1-1. Hens won last game 19-10 in 2021. SHU won first meeting 10-7 in 2014, the year the Pioneers went 9-2 and were NEC champs.

Morgan State (2-2) @ STONY BROOK (3-1)
Seawolves along with Monmouth are the big surprise in the CAA so far this year. SBU now on a 3 game win streak. Beware though the Bears who have lost only to Towson (9-14) and Ohio U (6-21). Seawolves won only other match-up, 24-22 in 2022.

LIU (0-4) @ VILLANOVA (3-1)
Sharks are competitive but 0-2 in two CAA games to-date. Meanwhile, Villanova looked as if they were facing a possible blowout early at Maryland but fought back, a valiant 2H, dropping the game 20-38. The Cats are 2-0 all time against LIU and should roll here.

NC A&T (1-3) @ SC State (1-2)
Lots of history between these two. Bulldogs lead the series 32-23-2. Aggies though have won two straight since leaving the MEAC, 2-0 as a Big South member. Aggies only win this year vs D2 Winston Salem. Bulldogs only win vs The Citadel. Aggies won last game 41-27.

Winners in bold

Fordham at Monmouth Teams headed in opposite directions. Monmouth rolls
Delaware State at Campbell Camels get back to winning.
Richmond at Elon Spiders looked shaky against a bad Hornets team on Saturday. Elon wins at home.
Morgan State at Stony Brook Is there a sign of life on Long Island?
Maine at UAlbany Maine will keep it close for awhile but Danes pull away in 2nd half.
Sacred Heart at Delaware Back to normal business practices in Newark on Saturday as the Hens beat up on an inferior non-conference opponent.
NC A&T at S.C. State NCA&T did not look good on Saturday and that will continue this week against their former MEAC rival.
LIU at Villanova It's KC Keeler week on the Main Line! The Cats take on a Blue Hen-approved non-conference opponent and hopefully find their offense!
Hampton at W&M The Tribe win big at home.

when Hampton has the skill players healthy, they won't be as bad as they are... Yogi

particularly the RB Burris and the QB, not predicting anything crazy but look for a closer game than you would expect from them in the Burg

Go Lehigh TU Owl
September 25th, 2024, 01:14 AM
Monmouth 55 Fordham 24: The Beach Hawks will over the hapless Rams. I simply can't fathom (I know there's injuries but this goes beyond that) the dysfunction in the Bronx right now. Fordham should never be this bad. Kinda like Lehigh recently...
Campbell 45 Delaware State 27: I was shocked by how well the Hornets played Richmond last weekend. Camels put forth a more decisive effort, even if DSU gets a late score or two that changes optics...
Richmond 27 Elon 24: This is a back against the wall game for the Phoenix, and they're at home. Still, I like Richmond to find a way again...
Stony Brook 34 Morgan State 13: The Seawolves are quietly lurking in the CAA race. I can't believe I just typed that...
Albany 30 Maine 23: The Danes do enough to stave off a hungry bunch of bears....
Delaware 41 Sacred Heart 20: The Pioneers offer considerably less resistance than the Quakers....weird...
SC State 37 NC A&T 33: I remember when these were two of the top FCS teams in the country that happened to be HBCUs. I miss those days....
Villanova 27 LIU 20: The Sharks have played a brutal schedule thus are much better than their 0-4 record suggests. Sadly for LIU, 'Nova will generate just enough offense to push the record 0-5...
W&M 45 Hampton 31: A Tidewater treat! I'll take the Tribe in a reasonably entertaining affair. I'd pay to see this one...

Monmouth- Fordham is limping while holding a white flag
Soup U- DSU isn't that great
Richmond- could very well win by a late FG
SBU- Morgan state will fight hard but they always seem to find a way to lose in close games.
Albany- Should be rested and ready to go vs yogi or baloo or banana or whatever the hell Maine named its bear mascot.
NCA&T- wins I guess.
Villanova- needs to make a statement game, win by 17 or more.
W&M- win by 10-17 over a hungry jack sparrow&company

That is actually two weeks in a row where I forgot to add the UD game LOL, truly no BS I actually missed it twice.

Maybe it is my subconscious telling me I'm still mad about the fact we are losing Delaware as a football conference mate for over 30 years.

Delaware- Sacred Heart is awful, Foghorn can send in his children to play by Q2.

Of course you do! I will be the first to say that Fordham is flat out bad- at least right now without Montes. with that said we could have scored 80-90 points today and I am not exaggerating. and we were down 2 guys on offense, 1 being the leading WR in nation. Anyway- How are the Hens shaping up health wise (you said last week very banged up) coming into our game? This game for us is now enormous- Jury still out on us as a whole and first "test" for our Offense. Even though Albany was ranked (LOL) and Maine disposed of them and we blew out Maine, beat an FBS and could have beaten Fordham by 70, we still will need to validate with at the very least playing to within 1 score of The Hens to get any respect, b/c of our awful collapse against Lafayette. We lose and leaves little room for error but still can get where we want, but a win and all of a sudden Monmouth is on the National radar. Things feel a bit different this year in WLB but we have been here before and faltered. a shame we prob will not have our best WR but we have enough other ones. Looking forward to getting a test against a CAA elite!! Will Hen fans travel?

The Hens are banged up and yesterday it got worse. Was announced right before the game that starting QB Ryan O'Conner was out, no idea what the injury is.
Minicucci, the Jersey Boy that led Delaware over Lafayette in the playoff game last year, started and got hurt (shoulder) on first play of the game and goes out. In comes my personnel favorite Zach Marker, who was just cleared to play after ripping his ACL in the Nova game last year. He was dealing with some rust early but really looked pretty good overall, and he looked really good last year before the injury. Before the game was over Brandon Streeter, a highly heralded true Freshman QB came in and hooked up for a TD with another true Frosh WR on his first pass.

More bad news, Yarns was hurt in the first game and has not been seen since, lower leg injury. Back up Silver has been adequate and yesterday he goes off the field holding his arm like it was broke, just speculation on my part.

I could continue but I've given you enough to get your panties wet

I think this game is going to be a good one, like they all are on your home field. One thing is Delaware Defense is playing pretty good but obviously against some weakest of the weak in FCS. Monmouth has some of the best skill players in all of FCS so this game should be a wild one, let's face it, Mr Chicken at QB to CaribHen at WR could put up some points for the Hens on your Defense, a D that reminds me of one of those warning flags flapping in the breeze down off the boardwalk at Asbury Park trying to make a tackle. Honestly though, I thought Fordy would put up about 35 on you yesterday but didnt happen

Bottome line, Delaware is deep on both sides of the ball, not much of a drop off on both sides of the ball when starters go out. Your D will be gassed by the end of the third quarter and Delaware should be fresh. I think that will be the difference

Excellent commentary and impressed that only filled with mild Jersey sarcasm/jabs. Sidenote- My Dad played at Gettysburg in the late 60's so as a child I traveled to see them play when they were still a good D-3 program led by Barry Streeter who's son was Brandon Streeter who your guy is named after (I believe his Uncle).

You hit the nail on the head- I think we are at the point where MU Offense even on an off day will put up 24-30, a good day 31-41 and a great day 42+- leaving it to the swiss cheese group which was pretty good against Maine (not meaning much) better than the stat sheet show against FIU (forced 5 punts and 2 turnovers and got some pressure) and obviously Fordham- holding them to 278 yards (really though The Rams are broken).. So we are on the improve albeit slowly. I should note our DC comes from NDSU (was at MU for a couple years prior) and so we are learning a new D and have almost all brand new guys on that side of the ball- However, against Maine we got 2 starters back who were out for the first 2 and now they are ever so slowly developing a bit as a unit. Still not even close to there but I will tell you this- If you told me that upfront on both sides, if MU can play Delaware even on both lines- I would say I think it would be very hard for you to win. Our O and D lines are vastly improve and when we played in 2022 it was noticeably bad for us upfront. Robertson I think has been sacked once, maybe twice with very few serious pressures and most of them coming in week 1. Defensively we are not able so far to get a natural pass rush with 4, so that could be an issue. Coaching will also be a huge part of the game as Carty strikes me a guy who knows how to truly take advantage of flaws. WE are DEEP skill wise on Offense. Even if Derry (wr) does not play and it looks like no shot, we have a solid 5 other guys who can and will make plays and 2-3 Tight ends who can ball. We had 3 backs over 100 yards rushing yesterday and have 4 solid guys- all diverse. I think this could be a classic- This does NOT seem like same old Monmouth but honestly until proven otherwise, benefit of doubt to The Hens. Really looking forward to it..

I will take the bait. Bryant, NC A&T, Penn and Sacred Heart. Yeah yeah, "Penn is good" and they are but that schedule so far is not one to brag about in terms of generating said stats. I am happy that whoever got carted off in stretcher is ok as i NEVER want to see any player injured beyond his pride or the wind knocked out.

According to NCAA stats The Hens have allowed 2 sacks all year while MU has allowed 3 but in 5 games as opposed to 4. You def have more sacks then we do however.

You have thrown 2 picks we have thrown 4. To talk about 12 players catching passes in a 49-0 rout of a BAD team is akin to me talking about 3 players rushing for 100 yards in the same game as we did yesterday- so we are even there.

Nothing to be scared about from anything you said above as it has come against 3 cupcakes (you were right about Bryant- my bad) and a decent Ivy- while our "stats" have come against a Big Sky team who may not be good but nearly beat Montana last night, a rout of a CAA team that just handled Albany who was ranked (even though should not be) and a ranked Lafayette team, an FBS team and then The Rams. The comparison is not even close. We are leading FCS in total offense and have the leading passer in the nation.

The game feels like an unknown- I think mentally we hold a huge advantage b/c we respect but do not fear The Hens while I bet Carty and Co look at us as garbage- and when you's take duh field Saturday you will find out that is not true. I am laughing though at you throwing those stats out considering the schedule.

They have a big family and are very sports connected-- from the UDEL website:

They have a big family and are very sports connected-- from the UDEL website:

Ah Yes, I had read that but forgot where. Chuck Hall was a legendary RB at Delaware, I see our young QB's father was a WR for Lehigh. Very impressive bloodlines for Kid Streeter
