Duquesne and YSU meet for the seventh time on Saturday with YSU winning all 6 previous games, including last years playoffs. None have been close. This year, however, the Dukes are the overwhelming preseason choice to win the NEC with many players returning from last years playoff team. YSU lost almost all its D from last year and is the preseason pick to finish 7th in the 11 team MVFC.

YSU also has a new starter at QB who has questions about his pass game. The Dukes usually hang with YSU until folding in the second half. They traditionally are smaller and lack dominate players as YSU displays. But the Dukes return their starting QB who had good numbers last year.

Game at YSU starts at 2:00 with temps in low 80s and dry. While I expect a close game for awhile, I believe YSU kicks butt again for the 7th time.

Game notes are out and YSU will play the same starters again for the third straight week. Injuries have not been a concern so far.

Of note, this will be the Dukes third straight money game on the road. Toledo, Boston College and now YSU provides a payday, helping to meet the growing demand for money to run the athletic dept.

I agree, Beam. They need the passing attack and the MVFC will tee off on Beau. He is going to take a pounding. I’m not sure why the coach doesn’t play Schondolmyer . He is head and shoulders our best passer.

They also have a serious QB problem . All are young, roughly same class and transfers are highly likely when they don’t play. Best be sure you are playing your best player or lose the future of the program. Recruiting is bad enough without losing the limited talent you get to the portal.

I projected 5-7 for several reasons. The D was one of them. Had this game as a win. If YSU falls , they may not win 5 games.

And here is the cherry on top - Strollo , per his usual F’ups, has extended Phillips to 2028. Can you say Heacock 2.0 ? You can trace the downfall of Penguin football to hiring him as AD. Bad coach hires, bad extensions, poor scheduling, etc. Throw in the local politics and the destruction of the program was etched in stone.

Time to have some fun with this joke of a program. The Nattys of the 90s are long gone.
