I haven't heard anything about this one, but I did find the Lumberjacks on Arizona's schedule for 2006:

I believe SFA is playing Arizona AND Tulsa in 2006...

SFA has not been one to play I-A foes in recent years, but they are going to give it a go...

Thought the same thing. This really is a bizarre move on their part. NAU made sense for the regional tie-in, which would assure a better crowd. They have trouble drawing fans to the games as it is, and scheduling a I-AA team from east Texas that most fans in Tucson are unaware of, is a weird decision.

I would hope SFA regains some of their lost luster before these games - this year and last year were not exactly typical SFA years and playing up in competition could get ugly real fast if things aren't better.

NAU will play Utah in 2006, and ASU in 2008. Negiotating with UA for 2007 and 2009.

Do you have any ideas how those negotiations are going? Arizona won't have the benefit of an extra OOC game when the 12-game schedule takes effect. The Pac-10 has decided to play a 9 game conference schedule and allow its members to continue scheduling only 3 non-conf. games.

That doesn't bode well for NAU. Arizona is clearly improving under Mike Stoops. They're about 2 years away from a bowl game. Scheduling I-AA's, even NAU, might prove unpopular among the Wildcat backers.
