View Full Version : AGS Top 25 - How They Fared - Week 2, Fall 2024

Week 2 is nearly in the books (just a few teams out west to finish up).

There were a couple of losses within the Top 10 of note: #3 Montana losing to #20 North Dakota, who scored 20 unanswered to come back and win, and #9 Furman losing to unranked Charleston Southern by 4 pt. #7 South Dakota did lose, but put up a respectable showing against FBS Wisconsin. Finally, #6 Idaho followed their strong showing last week against FBS Oregon with a win over FBS Wyoming in Week 2.

Within the Top 11-20, #13 Richmond lost to unranked Wofford by 7 pt and #16 Western Carolina lost to unranked Campbell by 8 pt. It should also be noted that Wofford is now 2-0, after beating Gardner-Webb last week, who only lost to FBS James Madison 13-6 this week. Within the Top 21-25, #22 Tennessee-Martin lost to #36 Southeast Missouri State...in OT. The next 5 ORV teams all showed why they were knocking on the door of the Top 25...each taking care of their business in Week 2.

It should also be noted that unranked Saint Francis beat FBS Kent State, for only the third scalp this season; however, this is tempered by the same Saint Francis losing to Dayton last week. Eastern Washington also took an OT loss at home to Drake this week, so might need to pump the brakes on the Eagles...or show the Bulldogs a little love.

Just a FYI, Saint Francis beat Kent State, not Sacred Heart.....

Thank you. Fixed. Clearly eyes are bugging out and brain is mush. I was even looking straight at Saint Francis on my sheet (hidden on sheet, since they were not in Top 25 or ORV this season).

Tough to predict after the first 10-12 spots... but more worthy teams deserve to be in, though there are only 3-5 of them... xsighx

It was a good contest and the Pards were on the road vs Monmouth. But it could also be noted that Monmouth had been credited with a good effort @ EWU last week; however, yesterday EWU lost at home to perennial Midwest patsy Drake in OT. I watched the 4th Quarter and OT of that game, and to be fair, Drake looked pretty darn good. What this tells us about EWU, and by the beloved transitive property, Monmouth, is questionable. But I'd say at this juncture the best I would credit Lafayette with for the Monmouth win is an expected victory over an average FCS team.

How different is this year's Drake team compared to the one NDSU beat by 9 TDs in the playoffs?

Drake was closer to NDSU than the score shows, of course - I mean, they were running the ball very well against NDSU's defense - but still.

no clue, but NDSU would surprise noone with a 56 nothing beating of Drake

Drake's next game is against South Dakota in Vermillion. Since NDSU beat the Yotes by 6 touchdowns a couple weeks after beating Drake by 9, we will learn something if the Yotes can beat Drake by 3 TDs. No-fail transitive property across seasons.

Thanks for all you efforts! Decided to skip voting this year. See you all next year.

Gotta say, I did like the way Drake played against NDSU last year - sometimes, things just get away from a team especially in the playoffs.

Hey, I am running way behind and will have the poll out in the next hour. Sorry folks.
