TOWSON, Md. – On August 14, 2023, Towson University wide receiver Sam Reynolds went to bed like any other night. While sleeping, he suffered sudden cardiac arrest - the sudden loss of all heart activity due to an irregular heart rhythm that without immediate treatment can lead to death. His breathing stopped and he became unconscious. Reynolds got treatment and was rushed to St. Joseph's Medical Center where he was placed in a medically induced coma to help protect his brain from severe injury.
