I read that a Bucknell freshman from Tampa died a couple days after collapsing on the field back in July. Parents were contending that the school was not providing information. Supposedly, the player was taken to the local hospital, then transferred to a Level I trauma center at Geisinger, where he died. Since initial reports, I haven’t seen any updates. Does any have information on any findings?

I'm afraid that other than for many incidents occurring in P4 schools, there is little chance that information gets leaked or transmitted to media outside of or unaffiliated with the school and its ADs. xsighx (See Hampton and UChicago football coaching crises for examples.)

What was his name?

CJ Dickey is his name. He collapsed in weight room. 6'4" 290 lbs. Happened July 10th I think. He was just 18 years old, presumably a true FR was just dropped off by parents jut 2 days earlier. They were doing drills in the weight room. Not sure if heat was a factor. Always very very sad and tragic.

Calvin Dickey said doctors indicated his son's condition, sickle cell traits, may have contributed to the medical issue but didn't explain much more. He said C.J. Dickey’s heart rate was elevated but his blood pressure was low when his parents arrived at the hospital. He was, however, awake and talking at first.

The Bucknell response seems like they are uncovering some things they don't really want to share. Using the "unable to comment further at this time" line typically raises a lot of eyebrows. No doubt they have to be careful in what they reveal, and there are probably some procedures and protocols that will come into question. Regardless, sincere condolonces to this young man's family. I can't fathom dropping my kid off at college and then literally a few days later having to go back with them in the hospital and then quickly passing. Makes my heart ache given the age of my own kids who either just graduated or are still in college.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it is a delicate situation in what can be released or cannot be released, and then there is what should be released.

Damn a shame. I was up there only a few days later staying in dorm for our annual golf trip at BGC (parents BU 61 and brother 86, Siete cat, tree on 7th, 2017! A Pard taking in tuxedo male feline found in tree at Bucknell - great story) and talking to some football players who were in adjacent dorm.
