Yes curious timing on this one as prime recruiting season is in swing, perhaps it was due to health related issues.

Rick Chamberlin, Mike Kelly's long time defensive coordinator, (25 years), has been named the new head coach. Great news. Rick, just like Mike, is a fantastic coach and a fantastic person. Recruiting should be absolutely fine.

I'm sure Rick will bring his own style to the job. It will be interesting to see what direction he takes the program in going forward.

MK has been an Associate AD the past few years and he is going to stay on and expand his role in that capacity.

It never gets old to say.... Yet another great day to be a Flyer!!!!!

Goes out with a national championship over my nemesis.

Gotta wonder why Kelly didn't chose to move up the coaching ranks.

Gotta wonder if Kelly would have been a great Notre Dame coach. xsmhx

Kelly had college football experience unlike Gerry Faust. :)

We'll never know. Maybe...and just maybe Mike Kelly is being considered for the Irish position and retiring from UD for recruiting purposes was the right thing to do before going to the Irish?! xprayx

I'm getting goosebumps thinking the Irish could get Kelly as their coach! xthumbsupx
