I swear I've seen people post that it's better to listen to a game on the radio than watch it on Flo. Are my wires crossed?

Those people told you correctly. Imagine a streaming event where every camera is run by high school student volunteers, one of the commentators is a retired dentist who knows literally nothing about the sport being broadcast, and the whole thing is streamed from a 1997 Compaq Presario via AOL dial-up to a site hosted by Geocities.

That's Flo Sports.

Sounds like that in itself is reason enough for the jump.

Almost. The big strategy though is to broaden UDs appeal in the sunbelt by playing Kennesaw and Florida International on ESPN+. At least that’s what the UD Prez is stating.

My apologies to the Tribe for picking against them. VMI must be bad this year. Not saying that as a knock on VMI (or to take away from W&M's victory), but looking at the box score that defense isn’t what it was last year and the offense looked rough in the pass game. Also, not good when W&M outpasses you (given their identity), runs for like 6 yards a clip, and completes 75% of their passes. Can’t ask for a better performance if you’re the tribe, unless you want to nitpick.

Apology accepted. The Tribe is a different animal offensively this year with lots of up-tempo and a dangerous air attack. Score could have been worse with 2 TDs called back and a missed FG. Starters were all done with 3 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. Defense with 7 new starters took a half to get situated but impressed after intermission.

See you on the 14th!

So…the same middle-of-the-pack QB with meh 2023 stats is now the gunslingin’ trigger man for a “dangerous air attack?”

OK … guess we’ll see that on 9/21 in the ‘Burg. Furman has a small group of toddlers ‘childing’ the Paladins Secondary this season. They will have had a few weeks in nursery school before they face “Dangerius Wilson,” but based upon your assessment and Furman’s lack of DB experience, FUBeAR would expect to see something like 500 yards, 6 TD, 85% completions, and 0 picks from The Tribe’s air assault.

So, when I’m evaluating William & Mary, looking at them like the Wofford teams of 2018-2019, before Conklin decided to nuke the program.

I bring this up so when the inevitable “but” to my assessment doesn’t come off as a criticism i wish i led with. William & Mary’s offense just makes me so nostalgic for better times at Wofford! But having seen it so many times, I know it’s weaknesses.

They’re a team capable of racking up 400-450 yards consistently on average defenses and much more on bad ones. They prefer to run the ball 60-70% of the time, utilize some option principles, lots of misdirection and jet sweeps, and they will pass the ball. When they do pass the ball, it’s typically play action, or a west coast style quick decision to a player that should be open. Basically, (and better ball knowers can correct me if i’m wrong) when you run the ball that much and that well, it lures defenses into running zone, and that opens up the QB finding holes (quickly!) in the defense. It’s absolutely beautiful when it’s running well, like it was Thursday.

But the shortcoming really becomes clear when you play a team with a great front 7, as you will see in the top of your high major FCS leagues and in the second round or beyond in the playoffs. I want to say wofford only got north of 24 times a couple times in the playoffs from 2010-2019 (if that). It was the main reason i was okay with moving away from the option. Basically if you can “hold the line” well enough, and make this kind of QB beat you, especially if you have them playing from behind, you’re in a good spot.

At this level, it’s hard to get a QB (or receivers) who can consistently complete more than 60% of their passes, and QBs for a system like that, they’re not likely to be elite passers (even if they’re really good). So when I say you have to force Wilson to beat you in the air, i’m not knocking him (and i could list countless times people criticized satisfactory passers for wofford under this system). In college football, you recruit your players for your system, not vice versa, and being a pass-first team isn’t william and mary.

As a sidenote, if you’re going to williamsburg, i highly recommend visiting Jamestown, historic williamsburg, and also if verizon is your mobile carrier the service is absolutely horrible.

Not gonna make it this time.

FUBeAR Jr’s b’day weekend. He and Mrs. FUBeAR Jr. moved to the GA coast, so we’ll meet halfway in Maconga and celebrate his B’Day watching the Bears butcher the bellhops.

Thanks though - have done the whole W’Burg, J’Town, and W&M game in the past.

No thanks on Verizon. Ditched AT&T in January … paying 1/8th of ATT’s exorbitant fees with Mint Mobile. All is good and Ryan Reynolds is FUBeAR’s personal Account Rep. Happy to send a link to get you started. Ryan will give you a call to get it kicked off, and FUBeAR will save even more!

I just looked at the list of conferences that FloSports advertises they broadcast for....it's time for the CAA to pull the plug and move to ESPN. I think it's the only DI conference on there....

Well, I'm a subscriber for the month of September!

The reason why flo sports sucks is simple: Network Effects.
