I have been very critical of the youngest Manning, but all I can say now is congrats man you deserve it. He has played great the last few weeks and showed a great deal of leaderhip taking the G-men to the Super Bowl. I shall refrain from making fun of Eli from this day forth--you have impressed me.

Ya get in done with this one for a victory celebration.

Screw that what fun is there if you can't make fun of Eli. He reminds me of that kid at the 8th grade dance whose date just left him by the Coke machine.

I still agree on that last part, but he really got it done this year you gotta admit.

I was very impressed with his poise and athleticism in the post-season, but he is lucky to have guys like Burress and Bradshaw

Frankly, I thought he got way, way too much credit for the Tampa Bay win and the Dallas win (he had a great drive before the half, though) - he played safe football, didn't have to win the game, and rode the running game and some great defensive effort. But he gets a lot of props for tonight's win - they don't win that game without him playing as well as he did.

That's the story of Eli's life (and any QBs, really): too much credit, too much blame
For all the crap he's had to put up with, he deserves to get some praise for his postseason play. They don't win these games if he doesn't play as well as he has
Congrats Eli and GO GIANTS!

The first priority in football is to "Protect the football"...and Mannng has done that with very good consistency over the home stretch. Favre certainly has better skills, BUT he was outplayed tonight. Brett was throwing passes he never should have attempted. I was cheering for Favre and the Pack hoping to see a Brady/Favre matchup...However, I will now be cheering for Giants representing the tough Eastern Division..

Doesn't he always do that though? That's part of what makes him Brett Favre. He's great, but that's part of his greatness, to some extent

I was just about to post the same thing. Bret has always been a gunslinger, any big loss they've had is a result of him trying to make the big play. Eli managed the game well this whole post season, I'll give him props for that, but in the Super Bowl he's gonna have to make some plays to get the Giants over the hump.

Let me see Eli perform against a team that will actually pressure him, over-rated!

I didnt say he is the greatest QB in history, just that he deserves a pat on the back. What QB is good with incredible pressure?

Good point, and what if the two QBs were switched around? What if Eli threw that horrendous interception that Favre threw early in the 4th (the one where Green Bay got it back on the fumble) or what if Eli threw the pick in overtime? He would've gotten crucified for it but since it was Favre it was just Manny being Ma..... I mean Brett being Brett. Of course that double standard comes with the territory when you compare one of the all-time greats at the position to a guy who hasn't proved until this year that he can play on the big stage but it put's in perspective the kind of pressure that Eli has to deal with week in and week out.

The thing is, Favre does get ripped for his penchant for throwing picks in big spots. Where he differs from Eli, though, is that he has a ring and has a long track record of being good. Eli doesn't have a ring, yet, and his track record hasn't been very good to this point. That's something that would change drastically with a championship or another 5 years of quality play, but he doesn't have those yet. But Favre's INT's will always be something that drags him down from the pantheon of the very best QB's.

I agree with most of what you said but I think there is a huge tendency among NFL analysts to not be critical of Favre. He's cultivated the good ol' boy image that makes being critical of him seem almost unamerican to most people. I agree he deserves slack because of what he's been able to accomplish but IMO he's given too much and his folk hero status in Wisconsin and all over the NFL nation makes him "untouchable" so to speak. When I think of Favre, I think; great QB in his prime, legendary toughness and durability, fantastic arm but accuracy and decision making gets him in trouble. His longevity (being able to play at the level he has) is what has made him one of the all-time great quarterbacks.
Of course, this is a hardcore Vikings fan talking so you may want to take what I say about Favre with a grain of salt.

Eli sure has matured in the playoffs. Completely different QB than we have seen here the last four years. Sure happened at the right time.
Go Giants!
