Both teams look pretty good. Wouldn't shock me if Monmouth vies for an at-large.did they change the field to 40 teams? EWU is good- Their offense is very good and will prob remain so all year, and although I agree that we did not look "awful" for 18 new starters, if you cannot play defense at least up to a C+/B- level, you are done for as we have proven for years. I said before the year I would reserve judgement until after week 4 b/c everyone is new and could take time, but that defensive showing was horrendous. I think our Offense can be good and am holding out hope EWU ends up being an 8 win playoff team and that we get better. We will find out in a week b/c Lafayette now is a must win. If we can manage 2-2 (Lafayette, Maine, FIU) after 4 weeks I will give us a punchers chance to hang around but unless you have a legit unstoppable offense, teams cannot be good without being able to make stops. Very disappointed.

Back story on Iowa QB McNamara ... he was a pretty good QB at Michigan, but 2 injuries later and playing for Iowa OC Ferentz, he lost his groove. New OC Lester will help him find it. Looks like it is slowly starting to show in our game.

Ironically HC Ferentz and WR coach are suspended for their recruitment of McNamara away from Michigan ... an now he is kicking our arses.

I still love this Redbird team's chances. Iowa could be very good, now that they have their QB making plays, and a new OC they like a lot. The won the big 10 west last year, without those 2. And Keepers had Iowa ranked 5th most returning starts/stats in all of FBS. And now they have a new OC and QB they like. They had a lot back on offense .. RBs, TEs, OL. Only questions were at QB and WR. QB is solved, at least for now.

One good half .. one total collapse half. We lick our wounds and get ready for rest of season. 2 easier games coming, Then EIU and NDSU at home. Our biggest injuries today were 2 preseason all americans ... RB Mason King/Blakemore on first carry .. defender rolled up on his legs as he went down. And LB/Edge Amir Abdullah went down in Q3 .. not sure how serious on either. Couple others too ... we hope not too serious.

Some bad misses by Gronowski is the only thing keeping SDSU out of this. Defense was looking overwhelmed early but seemed to get things going toward the end of the half. This is absolutely a winnable game right now if they just execute better.

There’s absolutely no way you can twist that game into a positive for SDSU. They weren’t disciplined, Gronowski should have thrown 3 picks, the defense couldn’t defend the pass at all. I get Ok State is damn good but you can’t say sdsu is a clear #1 right now

I have no idea, really. This is by far the closest FCS game Oregon has played in quite some time, though.

They lost their QB obviously .. and Keepers had them ranked 80th, returninng 10.7 of 22 starters. Just 4.6 of 11 on defense combined with QB stud graduating would suggest some fall off. Portal transfers per 24/7 shows 14 in and 20 out .. didn't check quality of ins or outs.

But Idaho ranked 99th in FCS in returning starts/stats.- .. so it cuts both ways.

Still, Idaho was really impressive ... not entirely regardless, but very impressive.
