A local media guy, Tanner Castora, did a really nice story on Mark (https://medium.com/@Tannercastora/a-peek-behind-the-curtains-of-how-and-why-mark-gronowski-stuck-with-the-jackrabbits-a023846d5d6b) and his process of returning to SDSU for another year. While he does technically have 2 years of eligibility remaining ('24 and '25), it sounds like he has told backup QB Chase Mason (was at Nebraska to be the starting center fielder prior to transferring back home to SDSU to play his passion - football) this will be his last year repping the blue and yellow - aiming for NFL, but leaving a transfer still on the table.
His big brother Ryan (https://www.keloland.com/sports/mark-and-ryan-gronowski-a-golden-journey/) is a decorated Special Olympian and Jackrabbit/Mark superfan, and older sister Sarah played softball at Butler. His dad Ray played quarterback for Drake (https://www.siouxfallslive.com/sports/mark-gronowski-feature-1) back in the 1980s, and mom Deb is absolutely adored by the entire community. Mark has entered gras school at SDSU for mechanical engineering this fall. He has compiled a 37-3 record as the Jackrabbit starting quarterback (only losses were at North Dakota in 2020/21 in his 2nd career start ever as a true freshman, Sam Houston State in the 2020/21 championship game after tearing his ACL in the opening series, and a 7-3 loss at Iowa with no touchdowns scored). I believe he is 12 wins away from tying Easton Stick as the all-time FCS winningest QB, which is not out of the question for the season, but still not a certainty. He's lead the Jacks to Frisco in each of his 3 years as a starter, and is hoping to make it a 4th.
So excited for the season! Good luck to all the other #11s, good luck to all your teams, good luck to the number one #11 Mark Gronowski, the Jackrabbits too... and in the words of brother Ryan Gronowski in a post-championship interview... "Let's F*ing go!" --- censored for family friendliness.
Go Jacks!!
