I would be beyond shocked if it was anyone but NDSU, SDSU, or one of the Montana's. Pretty steep hill to climb for anyone else.

Where and why do they come up with this stuff? Anything beyond SDSU, NDSU, MT and MT State should be like betting the field. UCA and Sac St. have each won a total of 2 playoff games; Chatty - 3 over the past 15 years. This year they are going to win at least 4 in a row?.

Incarnate Word .. who did they beat last year ?? 4 of 8 wins against teams with 0 to 1 wins ? The other 4 wins against teams with an avg of 4.5 wins. Didn't play a single playoff team. Lost to the only team with a pulse by 13 at Home. Barely beat the next best 3 teams. Barely beat 2 of the 4 teams with 0 to 1 wins .. one of those against a bad NAIA team. And they return just 8 of 22 starters. But they were 8-2 overall, and 7-1 against FCS with SOS ranked #87.

But sure .. they are a title contender in 2024 and have a chance to beat 4 straight playoff teams in 2024.

Tarleton State

I have them just outside the Top 10 but it would not surprise me if they end up being a team that is vying for elite/championship status.

I think the PL has two teams, Lafayette & Fordham, that have the talent/pieces to make a surprise semifinal run with a little good fortune. Fordham (because of Montes), at least to me, has serious Albany 2023 vibes heading into the season.....

Sacramento could be very strong on offense, but thinking their defense will let them down .. which they will need in any sustained playoff run.

Chattanooga and Central Arkansas could be competitive in 2024, but not seeing a run coming off their 2023 performance.

South Dakota lost a fair amount from their stout defense of 2023, and retained a lot from their so so offense ... so might not be a great combination for a playoff run, and hard to see them repeating their 9-2 season, though can see them being competitive. But there is little chance they get past NDSU and/or SDSU.

Tarleton offense may be a factor with a lot coming back on offense. But will their defense hold up against top 25 playoff level teams ? They seemed to be able to put away weak teams. But struggled (50/50) against teams just outside the playoffs and top 25. And now they are a known factor, so no sneaking up on anyone since they have done well to become a decent FCS program very quickly. But they didn't play a single playoff team last season ... going 2-2 against the best 4 teams they played, none playoff teams. Offense looks ready, but what about defense and special teams ?

Yeah the better question would be- Where would The Dakotas and Montanas finish the season with a middle of the road FBS schedule. My guess is at least 2 of them would be bowl teams, but maybe all 4.

Since the populace seems to believe that NDSU and SDSU have legit shots against Colorado and Okie State respectively, I think both would go 10-2 or 9-3 playing Temple's schedule. The Sooners, Aggies, Green Wave, & Road Runners would present the biggest obstacles imo. Navy and ECU would be tricky....

I nearly pissed in my pants reading this. Carib is the king of the haters when it comes to darlings.. and he is usually right! I think FCS is like the market- you buy when there is blood in the streets and sell when it is euphoric- This does not go for the usual stalwarts like dakotas/Montanas- but like Nova this year? Sell. Lafayette is a tough one to call b/c they could win every game in the PL while still being just "decent"- but they should be very good again, but now as the hunted and pre season ranked team, opening with FBS and and and.. MONMOUTH!! You never know.. Sell the darlings, buy the trash thrown out! Get long Monmouth!! Its almost time!!!! A lot of surprises coming from NJ this year!! (this is to provoke chicken to making fun of me).. anyway thanks for making me laugh carib

Kennesaw was genuinely great for a few years but Hooty was definitely high on his own supply. I just think Tarleton could fill the Texas sized hole left by Sam Houston, but we’ll see.
