Am I not the only one not much interested in the upcoming Olympics.

The coverage of the Olympics on my over the air tv for the past many times has been horrendous. To such a point that I have very little interest in watching.

You don't want to listen to NBC drool over Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles, and NBA players?

I can't remember being less interested in an Olympics. I just can't get excited- and I don't watch MLB anymore either. I'll just have to wait for college football.

I still enjoy the Olympics especially the track and field events - it's still amazing to me the levels at which these athletes are able to push their bodies to go faster for longer. I'm particularly interested in watching former NDSU shotputter Payton Otterdahl compete for Team USA - that's an event where the USA could legitimately sweep the medals with his teammates Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs ranked #1 and #2 in the world, respectively, with Otterdahl at #5 and he was #4 until recently.

Not interested either. It's mostly a revolving door of players every four years.

Love the Olympics. My wife and I will be watching every evening. Plus Otterdahl from NDSU and Ant from the Timberwolves will be must watches for us.

USA! USA! USA!

LFG!!!

Over the line, Laker.

You are allowed, however, to discuss the upcoming thrilling & highly competitive Human Roof Tossing event. Iran is favored, but Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen are expected to challenge. Apparently, many of the performers from the Opening Ceremonies will be participants, but they aren’t listed as Athletes. Weird, huh?

If so, it can be taken off- but since it was involved in the opening ceremonies I don't know how it can be ignored. The rail lines in Paris were sabotaged and I fully expect there to be some kind of terrorist attack before this is over. I fully remember Munich in 1972 and the murder of the Israeli athletes.

I didn't understand the beheaded Marie Antoinette or the Fourth Horseman of Death- weird is an understatement.

I suffered through the first hour and then bailed. The "parade of nations" on boats was just dumb. The spectacle of the opening ceremonies was lost. If I was an athlete who grew up watching and made my first (and likely only) Olympics, I would be pissed that they destroyed an experience I dreamt about.

Hey - something positive to report! Furman Football (kinda sorta) SCORES!!!

Former Furman star Walker Zimmerman scores goal for Team USA in Paris Olympics vs New Zealand

Following a loss to open the 2024 Paris Olympics (https://www.usatoday.com/sports/), the United States Olympic men's soccer team (https://www.ussoccer.com/teams/u-23-mens-national-team) needed a pick-me-up in its second match on Saturday.

Team USA got off to a strong start, jumping ahead of New Zealand 3-0 at halftime with the aid of former Furman University soccer standout Walker Zimmerman (https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/sports/nashvillesc/2024/07/27/walker-zimmerman-olympics-soccer-usa-new-zealand-nashville-sc/74572217007/) in the group-stage match against New Zealand in Marseille, France. Zimmerman scored in the 12th minute on a rebound, beating two Kiwi defenders for the goal off a defended header from Nathan Harriel. The goal gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead.

Lehigh graduate, Darian Cruz, will be competing for Puerto Rico at 57kg. Medaled in the Pan Am games, but winning an Olympic medal would be one hell of an upset. Was NCAA champ at 125lb. back in 2017/ Lehigh's Bobby Weaver won gold in the LA Olympics at similar weight class back in 1984.

The older I get the more I get turned off by the events that require judging. This ridiculousness with US gymnast Jordan Chiles where she apparently wasn't given a high enough score to start her routine so a gymnast from Romania got the bronze medal only to find out after she was done celebrating that the US coaches had discovered the mistake so the judges gave Chiles an extra tenth of a point giving her the bronze medal but now the Romanian Olympic committee claims the request came 4 seconds too late to be able to submit a review (they only get 1 minute after the score is posted) so now the IOC is saying Chiles needs to return her bronze medal but the US Olympic committee is saying the request did come in time and on and on it goes. What a disaster.... give me the events where whoever does it fastest/furthest/highest is the winner with no subjective judging and corresponding human error can cause messes like this.
