When asked about the Chargers' next opponent

Who? New England? Seriously, I mean, they're more worried than we are, I promise you. Believe me. They know what's up.

And if you've heard the tone he used, you know what I mean. Apparently he hasn't learned from Wade Phillips, Anthony Smith, or Paul Spicer. xnonono2x

Seriously, a lot of these NFL guys need lessons from Crash Davis on how to talk to the media:
"I'm just happy to be here."
"I just wanna help the ballclub."
"We've gotta take it one game at a time."
"I'm just going to try my best, and the good lord willing, things will work out."

It's called letting your actions speak louder than your words and showing some class. Some of the best football players to ever play respected their opponents and didn't run their mouth unless there was good reason. What gos on in between the lines is one thing, but what you say and do in the media reflects on yourself, your teammates, and your organization. What he said was bush league and classless and has nothing to do with the game itself.

And some of the best football players to ever played disrespected their opponents and did run their mouth for no good reason. People are different and go about things in many different ways.

Players talk smack every day of every week about every game. So what if they do? It makes it more entertaining for us, the fans. If he talks ***** and can't back it up, the more entertaining for us and the more foolish he looks. If he even cares about that sort of thing. Or perhaps he understands that in the grand scheme of things, it's only football and he's only playing a game and it's only a form of entertainment for anyone watching.

But why do people make a big deal about smack talking? We all do it, so why can't the players? If people don't like smack talking, then watch the Lifetime Network or Oprah, don't watch sports.

same old story with the Chargers... They continiously run their mouths about the Patriots in a classless manner and then they accuse New England of being classless.

I agree that many players do it and it makes the sport more entertaining, but that doesn't make it a good practice for a football player/team. Ask Norv Turner if he thinks it's entertaining, I know the answer you'll get. There's nothing wrong with having confidence in your team to win but when you express it by being condescending and spiteful is when you're going to do more harm than good. If I were a Patriots fan or player I'd be loving it. Go ahead and see how many Patriots are going to smack back at him and see how many just chuckle and say "Well, that's fine." That's one of the reasons why they're 17 up and 0 down this season.

For him, football isn't just a game, it's his life and his career. He and his teammates will be pouring their heart and soul out onto that field on Sunday and they wouldn't be doing that if it was just a game to them. That's why they're in the NFL and that's why they're playing in the AFC Championship right now.

Everyone talks smack, every poster on this board does it, but that's because this board is our entertainment. We all talk smack in flag football or pickup basketball because that's entertainment for us. I don't talk smack (publicly ;)) at my job and I don't think that's the best practice for anyone to do, doing that too much has a tendency to get you out of that job.
