Packers vs Patriots rematch of Super Bowl XXXI hope the Packers can get there and win again like the last time they played NE in the Super Bowl.
I want San Diego to win real bad against NE though.

I can't pick New England, so I have to pick the Chargers.

The NFL is definitely hoping for Green Bay-New England. That would draw some massive ratings. xnodx

The teams in the participating can definitely affect the ratings though. See Seattle-Pittsburgh a couple of years ago.

It's the "Favre Factor"
Favre vs. Brady is as high-wattage as you can get with superstar QBs. Attracts all the extra attention and even more viewers than normal. NY is a plenty fine football market, and they'll follow the Giants if they should get there. But the Packers (who have a massive fan base of their own) + Favre = Big ratings for the Super Bowl

i dont think it matters who represents the NFC, as long as a 18-0 Patriots team is in it, its going to get as big a rating as possible... even people that hate the Patriots will tune in to see history possibly made.
But there certainly would be a bigger story if its the packers...... can you imagine the scenerio of Brady and Favre shaking hands at the end of the game and having it be Favres final game, sorta like passing the torch on...... Will be a great scene, as long as the Pats are victorious.... :p

Exactly, Favre won't leave unless the Pack win the Super Bowl, so he can go out on top like Elway.

That means a victory in the 2008 Super Bowl, AND the 2009 Super Bowl.
Packers are freaky young, Brett is having fun. Doesn't look like a guy at the end of his career to me. xwhistlexxwhistlex
Yes, wishful thinking on my part, but I'm just sayin'.
Oh yeah, there is the Giants BTW. Their come to Dallas win was big time, and their defense in the 4th quarter was exceptional. xnodx

Good luck to all four teams this weekend, and a little more to the Pack.
This team is similar to the 1997 team, Grant with the same number on his back as Levens. But they have to beat the Giants first, then talk Super Bowl.

Huge vote total in favor of GB here. I'm a bit surprised only one person has picked NY so far.
The weather we be an equalizer. Favre had only 178 yards (IIRC) yesterday. The Giants are fine in keeping it on the ground. And NY is not a warm-weather or dome team. Playing in the cold is no big deal. I'm sure they'll be in GB a few days before hand to get used to whatever the weather throws at them.
Should be a great game. I expect GB to win, but will not be completely shocked if NY takes it. I was more shocked the Giants won yesterday than I would be if they win next weekend.

you mean like me in california and OB in Wyoming. When I was at the Packers-Chargers game at San Diego in 2003 half of the fans were Packers fans
The NFL is very interesting in that it has several large, nationwide fanbases, especially compared to other pro-sports. The Packers and Steelers in particular seem to have fans everywhere. The Cowboys seem to also, but I'd say they're a step behind those 2. Others, especially older sides like the Giants and Bears also seem to have relatively large followings (although I guess that makes sense given NY and Chicago).

Not technically, but you can't deny they've been playing their best football in more optimal weather conditions. It was nice vs. New England, 70 in Tampa and high 50s in Dallas. The fear of a pass-happy gameplan like they had vs. the Skins a month ago (wow, was it really that long ago?) still lingers with me.
Should be a great game. I expect GB to win, but will not be completely shocked if NY takes it. I was more shocked the Giants won yesterday than I would be if they win next weekend.
After yesterday's win, nothing they do this season will shock me any more. Bring on the Pack! xnodx

Amen! (9-1) on the road this year! I think they set a record yesterday for most road wins in a season.
Certainly no 12-win (counting post-season) team has ever had only 3 home victories.

I was not surprised to see the Giants win yesterday. Dallas hasn't played very up to their ability since the Green Bay Game. I would not be surprised if the Giants beat the Packers either, more disappointed than anything. The Packers have the best 5 receiver set in the NFL, it's hard to defend for any team. IMO, this poll only says who people think will win, not the odds on a team winning.
