What a tremendously up and down season this has been for the Redskins organization and fans.

Do you think Gregg Williams will get it?

Do you think Gregg Williams will get it?

Supposedly he was promised the head coaching job as Gibbs replacement when he originally signed on with the Redskins... xeyebrowx

But what about Al Saunders?? Will he remain?? xconfusedx

And what about Russ Grimm?? Not only is he a former Redskin, he is qualified and almost had the Pittsburgh Steelers job.

While I'm sad to see Gibbs go, it'll be fun to bring on something new.

It should be interesting! xnodx

Grimm would be a good choice, he follow Wiz to AZ right?

Keep your damn hands off Russ Grimm.

Totally unsubstantiated rumor started by myself but my thinking goes like this: Just because Dan Snyder owns this team and seems to have more money than God and some sort of power of persuasion where he always gets what he wants I'm going to take a stab at this and say he might go after Cowher.

Gregg Williams getting the gig is highly probable though.

Yes, and the Govenor has put him under house arrest. He is not allowed to leave the state.

All the money in the world is being gathered to throw at Cowher. Williams will get his $1M to walk away.

Yeah. $1m is peanuts to Snyder, he can get that out of his kid's piggy bank. I know Cowher turned down the Falcons and said he was going to sit out another year before reconsidering. But the Skins job is just infinitely better than the Falcons job and if Snyder calls he has to listen.

No. I started it about 30 minutes ago. :D J/K. That was just my cockamamie way of saying I had no link to back up anything that I was about to say.

If Cowher chooses DC over Baltimore, it will only further the serious second city mentality Baltimore has.

Here's to hoping it happens!

Can't imagine Cowher choosing Baltimore over Washington, if he had the choice.

The Skins have a *****-ton more money to throw around. Snyder will simply double whatever it is that Baltimore offers. xrulesx

That's not to say the Skins spend their money wisely though...xlolx

Mike Singleterry is lurking around out there too.

Wait...THE Mike Singletary, former crazy LB for the Bears?? xeekx

I have to say....he's probably way, way, way down on the totem pole for this position. All discussions around here point towards:

Bill Cowher
Greg Williams
Al Saunders
Russ Grimm
Pete Carroll

Is that just the obligatory mention of Pete Carroll? Why'd he leave sunny Southern Cal, where he's a god and perenially in the top 3 or 4 in the nation, to come all the way East and work for Dan Snyder? Carroll already has money so even the obscene amounts of cash Snyder could dangle in front of him wouldn't make him leave for that spot.

Yep, just the obligatory mention of Carroll on the radio/blogs. It's the first day, so everyone's excited and throwing out names at will. You're absolutely right....he won't leave. And he'd be an idiot to.

I expect Cowher to get the job and Williams to stay on as DC. Very sad to see Gibbs go.

I dont see Williams staying if Cowher comes in. Saunders maybe, but not Williams.

Maybe they give Williams the gig and if he fails next year we'll go after Ole Norvil for another shot at it. We could call it the Pettibone II experiment. :D

Here's what I always admired about Gibbs ... he won three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks _ Theismann, Williams and Rypien. Think he's the only guy to do that.

Most NFL coaches who have won more than 1 Super Bowl have done it with 1 QB ... Belichick/Brady, Johnson/Aikman, Shula/Griese, Noll/Bradshaw, Walsh/Montana, Landry/Staubach. Parcells had Simms and Hostetler, Seifert had Montana and Young.

If Pete Carroll were to leave USC, he would forever go on the Board of "dumbest decisions ever." Some people were saying June Jones was dumb for leaving Hawai'i imagine Carroll, leaving a warm sunny location and a football powerhouse!!! Stay put Pete!!
