Zags might not even be the second best team in their conference. St. Marys is a strong team that could take the conference and lurking in the wings is a San Diego team that is beginning to gel under the former Zag assistant. The Torreros have a big win at Rupp under their belt going into conference play. Zags have a ton of talent but so far Few has not got them playing up to Zag standards. From what I've seen so far, it is iffy if the Zags can get it going, especially with the Gaels and Torreros right on their heals. This may be the NIT year for the Zags.

TT any chance that the SLC could get Stephen F.Austin & Sam Houston St. in the touney. I don't think your conference has ever got 2 in but say both teams only finish with 1-4 losses. I hope SFA gets in since they have never got in the tourney before.

Not a chance -- the conference has way too many bottom feeders that bring the conference down. The SLC needs to look at this season, see all the positives and make changes (i.e bring the limit from four to two on sub-Div I games). Unfortunately, being a low major does not help scheduling, which is why we need those sub-Div I games as we do not favor "whoring" ourselves out like another conference in our region.

Playing 4 non D-I teams is far worse than taking payday road losses, IMHO. A couple of D-II teams is good for home scheduling, overall record, etc. But really does nothing for you. There are plenty of other mid-majors that would do home and home with Southland teams - NAU is always having problems getting games. We did a home and home over the past two years with Mississippi Valley State, so I am sure we would do one with a Texas team.

SLC teams have continually upgraded the schedule. It used to be far worse!

SHSU was only getting one or two home-and-homes a year. This year, we had quite a few games that were part of home-and-homes (Fresno State, Texas Tech, Texas Southern, UCF, Cal-Irvine and Loyola-Marymount). Our problem is the in-state schools (namely SMU and UNT) refuse to play us home-and-home.

Next year -- we play at UCF and Texas Tech in addition to hosting Texas Southern. Not sure what the rest of the slate includes. I'd like to see La. Tech, Prairie View A&M, Houston Baptist, Centenary, the return of Alcorn State (we've played them before) and such.

DOWN GOES #4!!! DOWN GOES #4!!! The Lions eek out a tough one on the road over the Bearkats, 61-58. Up next, #10 SFA at home. Hopefully we can slay two top ten giants in the same week..we'll see.

Who came up with the schedule?

Why does SFA play SELA and Nicholls on the road while each of those schools has to trek to Huntsville on the same weekend? Was this the deal last year, but the other way around and I just missed it?

That 7'6 370 pound center UNCA has made Hansbrough look like an 8th grader, size wise.

From what I understand, the SLC uses Stone Age methods to put schedules together and it's pretty obvious when you look at ours. We open up with four of five games on the road, followed by six of seven at home and three out of four on the road to close the season. Unless we overcome on the road, we're basically looking at a bad start and bad finish. Not suggesting conspiracy or anything, but you would think someone in the office would have looked at it and made a change.

xlolx Poor TT.

Not too worried -- we've lost the season opener three years in a row (lost to McNeese and SELA the previous two years). We always end up in the mix at the end...

We got our big win over Texas Southern on the road...and next year, won't look too pretty in Huntsville. There definitely won't be any worries in Huntsville... xnodx
