View Full Version : 2007 BCS/AP Transitive National Champions

This is always a fun game to play, especially this year since it's quite possible the AP champ will be different than the BCS champ. So not only is it between LSU or Ohio State tonight in the BCS championship, but tomorrow Georgia or USC could be hoisting an imaginary trophy of their own.
Appalachian is in the unique position of being a transitive champ regardless of which or how many champs we end up with:
ASU beat Michigan, who beat Illinois, who beat Ohio State. Three easy pieces.
ASU beat Michigan, who beat Florida, who beat Kentucky, who beat LSU. Once you get into the SEC, you could go around the world before you get to LSU, but this was the quickest way.
ASU beat Delaware, who beat Navy, who beat Notre Dame, who beat Stanford, who beat USC. Stanford's upset makes this path available to virtually every single team in America.
I'm taking the long way around here, because I don't want to use Michigan three times: ASU beat Delaware, who beat Navy, who beat Pittsburgh, who beat West Virginia, who beat Mississippi State, who beat Alabama, who beat Tennessee, who beat...Georgia.
The worst team I can make it with is Duke. They beat Northwestern, who beat Indiana, who beat Iowa, who beat Michigan State, who beat Pittsburgh, who beat West Virginia:
1) who beat Oklahoma, who beat Missouri, who beat Illinois, who beat...THE Ohio State University.
2) who beat Mississippi State, who beat Kentucky, who beat...LSU.
Someone should try it with Minnesota, Florida International, Idaho, and SMU. I would, but I'm beat.

I remember there was a thread here awhile back that mentioned PTI asking who had the better season Tebow or Armanti? I think we all know the answer now...

Awaiting the kick off to the ED (exhibition division) championship of this one game game.
If there was ever a total clusterfvk of a BCS abortion, this is the big one.
Hope it is a decently played game, or look forward to a whole lot more negativity, belittlement, disparaging, insulting, and ranting out of OB tomorrow. xnodxxnodx

Why is everyone only mentioning USC and UGAy? Kansas and Missouri, IMO, both have better resumes than either.

Well, Kansas' only loss this year was Mizzou, but on the other hand the Tigers' only losses were to Oklahoma, who was in turn humbled by West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. Now, WV could concievably be considered for the title as well, except of course for that loss to Pittsburgh. On the other hand, UGA did alright for themselves, with the exception of getting spanked by Tennessee, who already lost to LSU on neutral turf. USC, well, they were great, minus losing to Stanford (I mean really, Stanford?)

I'll be watching to see if LSU's offensive line can keep Ohio State out of the backfield. Ohio State is 3rd in sacks (42) and 5th in tackles for loss (391). LSU's offensive line has been bad at keeping down penetration all year. Even Tulane gave it problems.
The Tigers are 73rd in sacks allowed (29) and 55th in tackles for loss allowed (311).

Can't be done for Division II because the champion's only loss falls into a reciprocal loop where all the losses for all the teams came to each other. xeekx
