I don't know how it's going to turn out but, in the spirit of respect for people who keep their chin up and lay it on the line during adversity, watching the first part of this Fiesta Bowl has me pulling for the Mountaineers.

Hey, Oklahoma is still in good shape. I think the Sooners have superior overall talent. I just like the way WVU's players are responding to the situation.

Was that John Riggins?

How about that Schmidt (sp?) guy being a transfer from a D-III school? Wow.

WVU is the most athletic team i've seen since Miami in '01. They are just rediculous. I have no idea how they lost to Pittsburgh. IMO the two best teams are USC and WVU.

Pitt just outhustled them and made the game into an ugly slugfest. White got hurt and came back ineffective. Noel Devine is going to be a big time player if he can keep his head on straight.

I wanted WVU to win as well. But I'm sure to remember that the reason a true blue WVU guy in Rodriguez left was because of his dissatisfaction with the university, and their unwillingness to provide the raises for his hard working assistants and waiving the $5 charge for High School coaches which RR was promised.

You think Slaton will stick around another year? I do, I think with him, Pat White, and Devine they will have another great shot at a title and keeping the same offense will definitely help. Slaton didn't get to play and the last half of the season he was not the same guy, if he went out now it would only hurt him.

I don't think WVU was more athletic then OU overall. I think OU just got blocked at key points, etc. I tried to watch this game with an eye towards looking at how fast players were running, etc. OU looked very fast to me. Not as fast at the QB position, of course, but very fast. But they did things like, for instance, fail to make the tackle when that WVU wide receiver made the catch in one on one coverage.

And WVU did have fast skill players. But note that, for instance, when Divine made that long run, an OU player was making up ground on him from behind. It's just that he broke so clean and he was very fast too.

College football is amazing. WVU had problems with Pitt...even before the starting QB got hurt. And...forgive me...but I do not believe Pitt had the kind of athletes on defense that OU has. Even with the QB hurt, you'd think they could've done better than they did. All the other guys were still in there. And they only got 9 points.

You just never know.

One would think that OU could learn to block a 3-3-5 with more than a month for preparation

Well done Mountaineers! xsmileyclapx My mother's side of the family is from West Virginia, so I promptly jumped on that bandwagon last year. :D

In the two games White was hurt in the backup did not play well. He seems to have the tools but his decision making is not good.
