Good Job Big Blue. it was real nice seeing the michigan players give Coach Carr a great going away present. Theyve had an up and down season to say the least, and they came out and beat one of the best teams in the country. solid.

Yeah, big win there. How crazy would it be if Illini and Ohio State won haha

I'm glad Michigan won, I dislike Florida, especially the big creeper that is Tim Tebow. Illinois and USC don't count since USC isn't SEC.

6 1/2 mins in USC already up 14-0...guess they were right when they said it could get ugly.

The perception that some fans apparently have that the SEC is and has been dominate over the Big 10 is NOT reality.. the fact is that over the last 24 SEC/Big 10 games (including the 2 games today) the SEC/Big10 have split evenly... 12-12.

The "domination" occurs in the bigger games like Fla v tOSU last year. People pay little attention to the lesser bowls that a lot of the B10 teams win.

Its the top tier SEC teams that have been dominate over the top tier Big Ten teams.
Ask Ohio State who is 0-8 vs SEC Teams in Bowl games.
Congrats to Michigan. Coach LLoyd is a one of the good guys, I'm glad he went out a winner.

Michigan is a top tier Big 10 team, what is their record against the SEC?:)

Nope. Was the BCS games that Penn State and Wisconsin won last year not big games? The SEC hangs their hat on that one win last year. The Big 10 is 4-2 against the SEC in the last 2 years. About to be 5-2 because Ohio State is going to put a beat down on LSU.

LSU is a better matchup for tOSU than Fla was last year. The traditional offense of the tigers plays right into Tressel's hands. He'll slow the game down, make it painful to watch, and it could end up like tOSU v Miami from 2002

When evaluating bowl wins for a conference, keep in mind that the Big 10 is often at a disadvantage that other conferences, namely the SEC, never have to face - the Big 10 will play 5 bowl games this year that are as close to away games as one can get: Purdue at Central Michigan (played in Detroit, MI), Penn St at Texas A&M (played in San Antonio, TX), Michigan at Florida (played in Orlando, FL), Illinois at USC (played in Pasadena, CA), and Ohio St at LSU (played in New Orleans, LA). It's interesting in that in the 4 games played so far, the Big 10 is 3-1 despite playing what amounts to road games.
As for Ohio St and LSU, I agree with the previous poster, Ohio St actually has a chance this year as they do match up better with LSU than with last year's Florida. And LSU has shown some warts this year and let teams hang around. With that said, I'm still expecting a 3 TD win by LSU. xpeacex

I think the Michigan-Florida game really could have gone either way. The Wolverines were amped trying to get that win for Coach Carr, which was probably the deciding factor. I think Tebow is Heisman material and a great player, but I don't think he should have had it this year. McFadden was my pick. Well, now he's got something to work for.

Michigan dominated that game way more than the score indicated. UM had 4 TO's to UF's 0, with 3 of them being inside the 10 yard line.

Where's the thread for the people who hate the obnoxious, overconfident, loudmouthed, bandwagoning, overhyped, overrated, child-slapping, poor smelling fans of both conferences? xcoffeex

Thanks Jag.
When you have a guy that's running the ball at will that QB is gonna be able to do a little bit more. Not bad for a 5th stringer. Hopefully Stewart stays.
Groethe was pretty good though. When he shook off a UO D lineman and threw a TD pass after being spun around that was one of the better plays I've seen this year.

Stewart was a beast, I hope he stays too. Grothe has been making plays like that all year. Actually that's when he's most dangerous. His two worst games (Sun Bowl and Rutgers) were games where he was forced to stay in the pocket and make throws.

Easily the most IRRELEVANT statistic you seem to see every year is a conferences overall record in the Bowl games. Here's a little reality check for the media folk who continue to put up this stat: each conference has it's own bowl tie-ins...and not all conference tie-ins are equal. The only common games we have to look at are:
Capital One Bowl (SEC #2 vs Big Ten #2...or top teams not in the BCS): this year is was Florida vs Michigan. Both were considered #3 in their conferences with OSU, Illinois, LSU and Georgia in the BCS. Michigan won 41 to 35.
The next best head-to-head bowl was the Outback in which SEC #4 Tennessee beat Big Ten #4 Wisconsin 21 to 17.
Now for all other bowl tie-ins for all conferences including the Big Ten and SEC, you get some tough matchups. While the MAC isn't a BCs conference, the fact that they have a tie with the GMAC Bowl with their #1 or #2 team vs/ the Big Ten #7 team is a clear disadvantage for the Big Ten. This year Tulsa takes the Big Ten slot. The PAC-10 does something similar with the Las Vegas Bowl when they send their #4 team to play the MWC #1 team.
So you see where this rant is going...a conferences' overall record means nothing since all bowl tie-ins aren't equal. In basketball, this isn't exactly the case. Why? Because all individual teams are seeded in the PLAYOFF tournament based on their individual regular season performances.
