For over 11 years, I've been immersed in the world of triathlon, tracing back to my earliest days pedaling a bright pink Barbie bike adorned with shiny tassels. Today, I navigate the course on a sleek matte black Pinarello Prince, but still accented boldly with bright pink handlebar tape. My name is Ava Larkin, and I'm a 19-year-old sophomore at Delaware State University, proudly representing not only a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) but also my school's varsity NCAA triathlon team.
