Does Jayson Foster get drafted?

I think he will. Foster was the most dynamic player we played all year.

Back OT...I think that it's more likely that he will be signed as a FA. Not that he's not good enough to play in the NFL (I think he could be a quality WR), but I think teams are hesitant as it is to pick a QB for an "athlete" spot on their roster (usually end up at WR). The fact that he's from an FCS school will only hamper the likelihood that he gets drafted.

On top of that, are we sure how good his hands are? As I pointed out, I think that he will end up being projected as a WR, maybe a 3rd down back. Either way, he'll have to prove that he's got NFL hands too.

He will be signed, might spend some time on the practice squad before getting a shot, but then I think that he will produce well as a possession receiver or 3d down RB.

I think he'll make a team, but it's more likely that he'll get signed as a free agent after the draft ends.

I agree that he will probably not be drafted, but will sign as a FA to be a receiver out of the backfield, or on special teams. Heck, he did all of that for GSU. Only QB I've seen play as a RB, WR, and KR/PR. Absolutely awesome athlete.

I think he'll be given a shot, but I doubt he gets drafted unless it's late. That being said, whoever gives him a shot, will be happy with what they get.

I spoke to a coach who told me a couple of teams had inquired about foster and had been given film on him. When asked what position he played, the GSU coach told the NFL guy, "Just put the ball in his hands any way you can."

I don't think he gets drafted but if his individual workouts are stellar there may be a chance.

I'd love to see him in Washington as a primary punt and kick returner. I think that will be where Foster has a best shot at cracking a roster right now.

If not, then he's a shoe-in for a CFL roster as a wideout I think. He can catch well enough, and that wide open field would be a goldmine for him.

That being said, I don't think he's big enough to play RB even if it's only on 3rd down. I think his best shot is as a return specialist/wide reciever (yes, he's got the hands.) NFL scouts know what they're doing and if he can play I think he'll get a shot. Otherwise I think he's headed to a nice career in the CFL.

If he can take a beating and he's an athlete (one of those is confirmed) then he can play RB or WR. JMU had a little guy, Delvin Joyce (5'7" 195 lbs.) that backed up Tiki Barber for a little while in NY and was also their kick returner.

I think Foster's a better athlete than Joyce and will put on some weight between now and the draft. Not to mention putting on weight once he's in camp. That said, I still don't think he'll be drafted, but will get a shot in camp.

A quick look at some sites indicates he probably won't be drafted...(although most of these sites aren't worth the bandwith they take up and I'm also not sure when they were compiled):

Scouts, Inc. (through espn.com) does not have Foster listed (that seems a little absurd to me).
DraftDaddy.com has him listed as the 12th ranked small school running back (but they have hightower listed at fullback, so I'm not sure what's going on there).
He's ranked as the 7th FCS WR on nfldraftscout.com (but I think these rankings were put together before the season).
He's also not listed on condraft.com's database.

Anybody else got sites they go to that prognosticate on Foster? Again, these are all free services (except for Scouts) so they are usually not very reliable.

Foster is real. I see him as a back as good as Brian Westbrook of the Eagles. I say fifth round of the draft.

Probably the 2nd fastest, if not the fastest. I heard the WR from Jackson State Jaymar Johnson runs in the 4.2 range. It would be great for the two fastest players at Indy to be from the FCS.

Not only is he fast, his vertical is 40+ as well. I've been told that he has no trouble dunking a basketball. Only question will be his hands as a WR. He doesn't wear gloves like so many WR do, which might actually hinder him a bit. Those gloves can give receivers some extra grip.

From what I saw of Foster, the pros should be very interested in his cutback ability and open field elusiveness. Not only is he fast, but he's shifty.

There is no way Foster gets drafted as a back. If anything he will be a kick/punt returner. He is just way too small to be a back in the NFL. Possibly a 3rd down and long back, but even then that is a stretch.

I think he will be drafted low; to fill an athlete slot. I also think that a couple years down the road, people will wonder why he was drafted so late. I think his size will be held against him initially. That will also be why he will be on special teams to start his career, but if he makes it onto the right team, he will be in the backfield before long.

If they don't break him in half, he might be a star.

He's always been durable at GSU, but a lot of that has to do with not many being able to get a clean shot on him. He's always been so shifty that most of the hits are at angles where he can just redirect the energy and use it to bounce off. Plus, he's incredibly strong for his size.

That will be tougher to do at the next level.
