Could also be that the BC head coaching job has proven to be a pretty good stepping stone position.
Could also also be the salary at Yale ($200K-$300K) vs the salary at Boston College ($2 million - $3 million).

BC hires Bill O'Brien as their new head coach. Reno is, presumably, staying put.

He is, but now I wonder whether he is actively looking, or BC was just a one off because of the Massachusetts connection.

O'Brien is a safe if short term hire. He's only been at one job more than three seasons, so if it doesn't goes well, he's back in the NFL.
This also offers BC to see if that new coach from James Madison is worth a callup in a few years.
