Austin Peay State University's Department of Athletics joins the rest of the nation in celebrating Black History Month, and will honor the contributions of its past and present African-American student-athletes, coaches, and staff members in the month of February. The Governors will kick off Black History Month by introducing the Ellis Initiative, named after L.M. Ellis, APSU's first black student-athlete and the pioneer who shattered the color barrier by signing the first scholarship in the Ohio Valley Conference.
