Wow, no respect for Dayton. How in the world can Fordham, Yale and Harvard be ranked, while Dayton is on the outside looking in? Not a single vote for NEC Champion Albany.... These polls seem to be as much of a tradition and popularity contest as they do an honest attempt to rank the teams.... Dayton finishes at 11-1, wins the Gridiron Classic in a big way, and is not even top 25.... I'm not buying what they are selling!

Truth be told, with the playoffs already deciding about the teams at the top, how things finish well below there is not really all that important. xpeacex

I love seeing UNI at number 4, but I can't help thinking they should have been 5. I mean I know we only lost 1 game to the national runner-up, but I would have thought you almost had to put Richmond higher because they made it further. Oh well, congrats to UNI on a great season, and to all the other teams.
Good Luck to all next year! Especially the PANTHERS!

Agreed, although I could see using it as a recruiting tool if you didn't (or can't) make the playoffs.

Its nit picking, I know, but having Norfolk State with 118 votes and Albany with 0 is just illogical. Especially with the MEAC's performance in the first round.
Dayton does deserve to be at least 25 and maybe as high as 22.

Very true. Especially for teams like Albany and Dayton.

The Citadel finishing strong and still on the outside. Grambling lost 2 in a row between polls and still ranked.

How did SHSU and Nicholls get more votes than a team like UCA who not only played an all Division I schedule, but made it possible to be conference (co)champions their first full year in the conference..putting aside UCA beat both those teams, and lost 2 of their games in the last second, that final poll is just wrong. I guess that's why I try not to read them. xlolx

No disrespect intended here bro, because 11-1 is a helluva season, but your strength of schedule is just terrible:
Robert Morris, Urbana, Central State, Fordham, Morehead State, Jacksonville, Davidson, Valparaiso, San Diego, Butler, Drake, Albany
Some good wins against Fordham, SD, and Albany, but the rest are pretty much non-events and the loss to Morehead State is a mortal sin. I can't stand teams scheduling D-IIs (including my favorite scheduling West Chester), but scheduling a D-II and an NAIA team really drags you down.

Agreed. El Cid should be in the final top 25. They beat us (with their backup QB) and had one of the best defenses in the SoCon.

Citadel had one of the best defenses in FCS? A 6-5 Furman hung 51 (FIFTY ONE!) on them

Polls are stupid. Always have been, always will be. Only thing that matters is what is done on the field.
And UCA should get more votes than SHSU and Nicholls.

Opps, that was supposed to say "in the SoCon." El Cid did have the best "total defense" in the SoCon. I'll go back and fix it.

Think poll is fine overall--
should URI be ranked higher than UMass cause beat them--
Villanova " " " " Delaware who beat them
Dayton Fordham
Towson " " " " Richmond who beat them
Elon App State
NO-- it looks at the body of work --not 1 game--

And arguably, Dayton's body of work is more impressive than Fordham's.

How anyone can justify voting for SHSU at all is beyond me. xnonono2x
They beat one DI team with a winning record (6-5 Nicholls St.) and that's the sum total of their argument for top 25. xnonox xrulesx
