RICHMOND, Va. — The Spiders had a chance at history Saturday evening in the Robins Center. All they needed to do was get by the hottest team in all of college basketball. Richmond entered with a nine-game win streak and a shot at posting 10 straight wins for the first time since 1935. But Dayton, ranked 16th in this week's AP Top 25, had won 13 straight games prior to Saturday, the longest active streak in all of Division I. Fueled by a rowdy capacity crowd, the Spiders prevailed 69-64 in a battle of A-10 unbeatens, moving into sole possession of first place in the conference at 7-0 and improving to 15-5 overall.
