View Full Version : Fantasy Help Needed! Palmer or Big Ben?

Who do I start at QB?

Big Ben just practiced for the first time this week today and he's questionable heading into Sunday's game...they play Jacksonville. May be a game time decision...

My backup is Carson Palmer. Problem is, he plays Saturday late afternoon, meaning that I need to make a decision before he hits the field against San Fransisco...

If neither of those two...Kyle Orton is available via FA -- he's starting this weekend for the Bears. Tavaris Jackson of the Vikings is also available. The Bears and Vikings play each other...not really any other names worth picking up -- not getting Lemon from Miami...

This is the semifinals of my fantasy league, so very important and according to Yahoo, the other guy has the edge, so I need any points I can get...

Thoughts?

I'd go with Palmer beacuse Pittsburgh's playing the Jags in Pittsburgh where the weather is miserable, and Ben missed two practices this week with some injury. At least it probably won't snow in SF, and I think SF has quit on their coach.

You think Palmer can throw a few TDs while avoiding INTs and sacks?

I too would go with Palmer. However, if you are a stats guy Big Ben looks to be the better start. The Jags are 27th in the league in passing defense while SF is 15th.

Another side to it is the Jags are 6th in the league in points allowed while the 49ers are 23rd.

The Jags seem to play the "bend but don't break" style of defense, giving up yards just not many points. An explanation for the 49ers stats could be that they suck so bad they always give opposing offenses a short field.

Take all that for what its worth.

It's more the issue of Big Ben's questionable status...the fact they are saying it will be a game day decision...coupled with Carson Palmer playing today (unlike Ben, who plays Sunday)...so a decision needs to be made in the next few hours...

There is a NFL game today?

Just one...

CIN vs SF, on NFL Network...

We have one Thurs, one Sat next week...and one Sat the last week (the New England game at that)...

Weird, I guess they are taking advantage of FBS college football being on hold for a while.

They play games on Thursday and Saturday after college regular season is over. Actually, they used to put them on regular channels so anyone could watch them but now with the NFL Network.....well, I won't go there; I will just get all fired up again..xmadx

I have Palmer in a couple of my leagues. He has been not been dependable this year at all as far as fantasy points. But looking at the defenses of who Cin and Pit are playing, Palmer is the better way to go. I love the 9ers but their D allows a lot of YPG. Jags have a better pass rush and their secondary is more aggresive. Not to mention Big Ben isn't 100%. But that's just my xtwocentsx

I decided to go with Palmer...

Everyone needs to root for him so I can move on to the championship game! ;)

Terror, how did you end up doing ponts wise?

251 yards and a TD, was he worth it?

I was very surprised about tonight's game. San Fran really played better than I thought they would. Palmer got me 18 points in a high scoring league. Not so great.... :(

11 points...could have used another TD!

Arnaz Battle also didn't do so hot for me either. I have a 39-16 lead after having used five players to their two...

It all comes down to Romo and T.O for them. I need Antonio Gates and Mike Furrey to live up to their potential, if not exceed it...

15 minutes before game-time, I added Aaron Stecker and started him...

He has two touchdowns, having a career game. This is very, very good...

I've already stated it but why didn't Westbrook run in that late TD? xsmhx xbawlingx

Big Ben would've been the better selection...we'll see if it impacts me when the final whistle sounds on Monday night...I should actually know if I won or loss by the end of play today.

Pending Adrian Peterson going crazy for the Vikings, I got this one wrapped up...

108.54 to 79.48 as it stands now...going to the championship!
