The ASU loss might have helped JMU land this guy, as the JMU coaches were out recruiting instead of still coaching.
Varina is a Richmond area AAA (largest classification in VA) power. Over a million people in the area, probably about 50-60 high schools considered Richmond area. He's the 3rd rated QB. Might be JMU's biggest committment so far.

"Thorpe (6-2, 205) chose the Dukes over the University of Richmond, Appalachian State, Syracuse and Connecticut. JMU, UR and Appalachian State recruited Thorpe as a quarterback."

This guy sounds a lot like Landers. All the I-A schools wanted him to play DB or some other position than QB.

Did ASU, Syracuse, and VT all offer him?

Already a thread on Thorpe in here. . . he's a great sign for you guys. I live in Varina and a star here can be a star anywhere in college.

WM recruiting off to a promising start too. Two confirmed verbals to date.

Chris Johnson (DE), Tallwood HS, Virginia Beach, two star recruit with offers from Duke, Western Michigan, and Northern Illinois among others.

Nolan Kearney (QB), West Downingtown HS, PA, also a two star recruit, third rated QB in PA, 52nd rated in the nation. Was waiting on offers from Penn State and some other BCS schools, but chose to go with the Tribe.

Nolan is a good pick up for the Tribe! I swear the CAA just continues to pull in top notch athletes.
