I agree with your first sentence. YSU wins both of them. Good running game and good defense. Duquesne will be a blowout and YSU will beat Villanova also. SDSU will be a huge favorite at their place but beating teams twice in a year is tough.

Being a realist I'm 1st super thankful YSU is in. Now the realist part of my thinking, YSU is no guaranteed W over anyone. I called it from the 1st weenie game of the year that YSU has some issues somewhere between coaching and player football smarts..

Pretty confident the Guins get by the Dukes but Nova is a road trip. Hopefully the road warrior mentality is getting back in the bloodline of the Guins..

YSU is 5-0 all time against the Dukes. We are very familiar with this program.

A little research - The Dukes played in an extremely weak NEC and get in as their Champ. However, they only had 6 D-I wins. Seventh win vs D-II Edinboro.

Roster shows 24 transfers/Jucos . They have 10 players from Ohio and 10 from Florida/Georgia. Otherwise, most of their players are from metro Pittsburgh. YSU fans may remember they have former YSU recruit Gianni Rizzo who transferred out. They also show some players from the Valley, on the Pa. side. They show a number of undersized players who would have problems matching up with the bottom of the MVFC.

No... we are 7 wins in nine meetings against Nova with the last being a competitive game but a penguins win. Last meeting was 28-21 win in 1999.

I'm sure you know what it is, but yes we have struggled against Delaware. 1-6 all time. Thing is, whether it's Nova or Delaware, we haven't played either team in a VERY long time (1995 for Delaware, 1999 for Nova).

So it's probably pointless to bring up either. Let's line the teams up and play! We may play Nova here in the playoffs and we definitely will play Nova at the beginning of next season. When will Delaware schedule a home and home with YSU? I would love it

Some notes -

Dukes leading rusher is a Frosh from Maple Hts ( Robinson). Gianni Rizzo, former YSU player starts for them at ILB. With the exception of D-II Edinboro, who they beat, they were hammered everytime they stepped outside their league. Players from Farrell, Grove City, New Castle area and the Beaver Valley. QB is from Los Angeles, Ca. Who transferred in from Rhode Island. Long time coach is Jerry Schmidt who played at and was Head Coach at Westminster before going to the Dukes.

This game will be a rout.

If they are as bad as I think they are, the first team won’t play much in the second half. YSU likes to play second and third teams to build up depth as well as get playoff game experience. This also protects your starters from injury in an otherwise meaningless game already secured. The Dukes are undersized in a number of positions. And as you point out, they have a very weak D giving up huge points in a weak conference as well.

Hard to compare though Mr. Chicken, the 6 points that Delaware scored on SDSU was last year and YSU didn't play SDSU last year. Hard to imagine that Jaleel wouldn't have scored something, but maybe not. As a fan, I can look ahead. I feel good knowing that the team is not going to look ahead from this matchup I know DP wont let them.

If YSU plays Nova next week, I am going to be excited for the game. I may try to make the trip if I can. I have been excited that YSU had the scheduled home and home starting next year at the beginning of the season and I hope we continue to schedule good out of conference FCS in home and home arrangements like that.
