How is it the Rams have the record for highest scoring average but not total points? Didn't they play the same number of games?

The record is from the St. Louis Rams in 1950, who only played 12 games.

Brady might beat the yards record by the end of the Mia game.

Also of note, Rice's record is extremely impressive because he did it in 12 games and nobody has passed it yet.

Wow, I didnt realize that...... If Moss sets the record it should have an * and signify that Rice did it in 12 games..... Just to show how crazy that number is..... Moss with his 19 is in second place all time, so even with 4 extra games, no one has ever come close to Rice.

I didnt even include the QB rating record on there, Brady has a decent lead on that too.

The Patriots will probably break both TD records (maybe next week), and the total points scored assuming nothing crazy (like Tom Brady getting injured) happens.

The two average records will be tough to break. I don't know if the Pats will be getting 39.4 points per game over the last three weeks to match the Rams record, and raising completion percentage is pretty tough also.

Dan Marino's record is breakable, but Brady needs 330 yards per game.

Gotcha. I just assumed it was the "greatest show on turf" Rams.

the points per game seriously depends on how much Belichick wants to pour it on the next two weeks.... I can see New England putting up 50 on both of them without trying.... it could be much worse... Remember they put up 56 on a decent Buffalo team....

The completion percent is possible but prolly not likely.... The Marino mark prolly goes down barely.

I think they will make a decent run at the franchise record (56), incidently against the Jets in 1979 (56-3)
I also think Brady gets the TD record this week as well as a career high in passing yards (410).

I think Moss gets 2 TD and has to wait til next weekend to get his TD record.

Agreed, that is a terrible logo. For the Olympics, you can just have it with the olympic rings, the name of the city and the year, and it looks fine. You don't need any crazy artwork on it.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the game against the Giants is NFL Network, which will mean one of the most historic games in NFL history will be watched by very few people.

It's a conspiracy!!

However, if either the Jets or Dolphins knock them out first, then the argument is meaningless.

They should also take the Knicks to court and demand the franchise be removed from the NBA :p

Oh the NFL sure hopes the Pats beat the Jets and Dolphins, because that game on the NFLNetwork is its bargaining power with the cable companies.

Local stations in NYC and Boston will broadcast the game locally but other then that, no NFL Network no game...unless a deal is reached, which if consumers complain to their providers enough very well could happen last minute....

John Kerry sent a letter to the cable companies and NFL last week encouragin parties to get a deal worked out

Of note at this point in Peyton Manning's record setting year he was actually ahead of Brady at this point by one TD. So while it looks like a sure thing to pass Manning, crazier things have happened.

This is exactly what the NFL was hoping for a couple of weeks ago with the Packers-Cowboys game. They got their wish as far as the game was concerned, although they claim that down here in the DFW area, one of the local channels got the NFLN feed. Wouldn't know because a) I actually get the NFL Network and b) I didn't want to watch the stinkin' Cowboys anyway xcoolx

How folks from around the country see Sunday's Jets-Patriots game:

Jim McCabe, Boston Globe (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2007/12/14/patriots_jets_just_call_this_game_a_tossup/?page=2): Patriots (taking the 23 points): "How prepared are the Patriots? When you see Shelby Scott standing in the end zone, bundled up with a headset communicating with New England coaches, you'll know they've turned to the best."
Boston Globe staff (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2007/12/14/staff_picks/): Only Mike Reiss picks the Jets with the points
Jim Rich, New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2007/12/14/2007-12-14_inside_the_matchups_week_15.html): Patriots. "This is going to be ugly. Sixty points from New England is not unrealistic. Either way, the Pats should cover the over by themselves."
Dave Blezow, New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/12142007/sports/go_with_green_639076.htm): Jets (with the points). "Confidence that their pride will be stoked, as it was when Steelers fans took over the Meadowlands, as it was when they were underdogs at winless Miami. You have to believe Thomas Jones can run it, Kellen Clemens can move the chains with third-down passes to Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery. You have to think the Jets' 11th-rated pass defense can force Bill Belichick to run the ball at least a few times."
Joel Magaraci, Newark Star-Ledger (http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-2/119761791954240.xml&coll=1): Patriots. "What to expect: The more the Patriots keep saying this is just another game, the more convinced I become that it's not. Do you think Bill Belichick suddenly has morphed into Gandhi overnight? Only a sloppy field -- which forecasters are predicting -- will slow down Tom Brady. But that just means four or five TDs instead of six or seven. No biggie."
Peter King, Sports Illustrated (http://www.fannation.com/peter_king_challenge/pickoff): Patriots 38, Jets 23. "Cris Carter made this point the other day. You know what happens when the whole world thinks you are going to lose a game 63-7? You spend extra time every day watching tape and lifting weights and thinking how to get an edge. Because the world is watching, and you do not want to be embarrassed."
Mike Tanier, Football Outsiders (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7554634): Patriots. "The best Jets and 1972 Dolphins fans can hope for is that Eric Mangini still has some inner-workings knowledge of his own team, or that the Patriots will come out flat, or that the Foxboro frost will be a factor. None of those straws seem particularly grasp-worthy."
Foxsports.com staff (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7553322): Patriots across the board.
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/features/writers/prisco/picks): Patriots 41, Jets 7. "It's payback time for Eric Mangini. The coach ratted out the Pats for "Spygate" and now he will feel the wrath of Belichick. The Patriots will pile it on. Tom Brady throws five touchdown passes."
Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News (http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=317876): Patriots 70, Jets 14. "I know the final score I've picked probably won't happen, because of that weather and because it's a ridiculous victorious point total, but it will feel that way for the losers after the game. If the Patriots don't feel they can pass at will and light up the Jets in poor conditions, they won't mind turning to a power running game to deliver some consistent physical abuse by pounding away on New York's front seven for four quarters. They will have the same goal for the defense -- hit and tackle as hard as they possibly can. The Patriots will get their gloves on -- mainly because it's cold -- and go for a real knockout this week."
She says, Z says: Brooklyn Decker: Patriots. Dr. Z: Jets (with the points).
Jeff Zillgitt, USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/zenzone/picks.htm): Patriots 105, Jets 3. "The Patriots, if I'm reading their M.O. correctly this season, will try to score as much as possible and in every way imaginable."
Jerry Magee, San Diego Union-Tribune (http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/nfl/20071214-9999-1s14nflpix.html): Jets (with the points). "Jets are an NFL team, right? No matter the circumstances, no NFL team should be slighted in this degree."
Greg Cote, Miami Herald (http://www.miamiherald.com/611/story/343986.html): Patriots 51, Jets 10. "Delicioso! Jets ratted out Pats in the Spygate scandal, and now payback is hell, or swell, depending on your vantage. Pats have dominated this series the past five years and are now better than ever while the New York Finks stink. The final score will be almost as ugly as the Bill Belichick-Eric Mangini postgame fist-shake."
Jerry Flanagan, Kansas City Star (http://www.kansascity.com/sports/columnists/jeffrey_flanagan/story/402547.html): Patriots 21, Jets 7. "As you're looking at the whopper spread, just remember there may be some big-time weather issues out East. That could keep the score down here. That's about all that will keep the score down."
Peter Yoon, Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-nflpicks14dec14,1,826653.story?coll=la-headlines-sports&ctrack=3&cset=true): Patriots. "The Patriots, who were already running up the score on opponents, might try to score 60."
Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07348/841520-213.stm): Patriots 56, Jets 3. "It is not nice to rile Bill Belichick and the Patriots. All the Jets and a former coach did was turn them in for cheating. Like waving a red flag in front of a bull."
Yahoo! sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/pickem): Patriots across the board.

the PPG is probably done. Passing TDs and Rec TDs are still pretty solid....

As for derailing the Pats season? The Patriots didnt set out this year to go undefeated, thats just an added bonus if they do, a loss to the Dolphins will certainly suck, but hardly derailing

Yes, but one of New England's touchdowns was a blocked punt.

So it should have been 13-3, still not the 40+ point win people were thing of.

the new england blocked punt wasnt caused by the weather, Washington beat his man to get to the ball. The puint that was blcoked by the Jets was cause Hansen bobbled the wet ball.

Excuses excuses. The fact is the Patriots have looked pretty beatable 3 out of the last 4 games (or 4 out of the last 6...which ever way you want to look at it).

But when it comes down to it: They keep finding ways to win and that's all they need to do. No way do the Dolphins or the Giants beat them.

My guess is they have a better game against the Giants than the dolphins... they'll beat the Dolphins but it'll be a lower scoring game like the Jets game but I believe they will crush the Giants by many (4 or 5) touchdowns...

They may have only given up 3 offensive points but they only scored 6 offensive points themselves in reality. Also, Jets got inside the NE 25 4 times and came out with only 3 points. That shows they should have given up a lot more.

But shoulda, coulda woulda. None of the above matters because NE has been finding ways to win and that's what good teams do. When you are trying to figure out whether or not a team after 14 games has the ability to be beaten, you know that they are a good team who takes advantage of their opportunities. The Jets on the other hand have lost several games this year and that is why their records are the way they are.
