For any interested in old history, attached is an article about the 1953 W&M football team who were dubbed the Iron Indians. Several who are still around today are going to be honored at this weekends homecoming game vs Towson.

The article actually has a disclaimer in case some 19 year old double major in music and gender studies loses their mind over the word "Indians."

I noticed that too. Sometimes the leadership at W&M will try and push a hard left position but gets stopped short by a pretty consistent, moderate BOV.

W&M is one of the few D1 universities left that had maintained the association with Indians, broadly utilizing the Tribe nickname. Stanford, Dartmouth, St John’s, Miami OH, Eastern Michigan and North Dakota all folded to pressure. Florida State and Central Michigan have held on to specific tribal relationships, Seminoles and Chippewas.
