It was a big day for senior Kat Vanbourgondien, who finished first in the 100 and 200 backstroke along with the 200 medley relay.Her coaches and teammates weren't surprised. But three years ago, truth be told, Vanbourgondien questioned whether she would last as a college swimmer. Not that Vanbourgondien didn't have the talent, work ethic and attitude. Not that her teammates didn't love and believe in her.
