Bucky Nell visits Cousin Corny far above Cayuga's water. Lots of water expected from the sky as well. Corny is well-'read' and beats its bi-son. 27-21.
Big Green travels across the mountains into the Chenango. In light of weather, possibly more players than fans. Least number of turnovers wins. 'gate 24-21.
Fordham travels out the "Island", but doesn't get marooned...SBU gets rammed. 49-17
Hoyas are 'rockin' after almost upsetting the Penn Quackers. Lehigh searching for that big play that can spark the turnaround. In a steady rain at Goodman, how aggressive will the teams get on both offense and defense, or will it be a field position struggle. Reports are that WR Johnson will return after three weeks, which gives Silbor another weapon. Garcia still not listed on the two deep, but DiPietro and Yoder are showing well. Key will be Lehigh not giving up long passes with a rejuvenate pass rush to help out the young secondary. I see another nailbiter coming down to the last minute. Lehigh 24-22.

Hoyas with a scoop and score TD. Silbor nearly got his RB killed by throwing a lazy flare pass. Been watching for 3 minutes and Lehigh is making a ton of mistakes.
Georgetown 14-0 about 3:00 1Q
Thankfully it was ruled incomplete. The WR missed the block which assisted in the RB getting killed. Even so, Silbor led Yoder right into the hit....

Also of note, not sure the last time I've seen a team head to half with all 3 timeouts. Especially, when you're 1-5. Maybe call a timeout just for the hell of it? Simply to say something of interest? Maybe a field goal block scheme to generate a big play? Ok, I digress......

This team has not improved one iota since game 1. Sure, there have been some individuals who have a had a good game, but nothing consistent. I put a lot of this squarely on the coaches. Pathetic play calling. Hunt needs to go. QB play is awful. He has no ability to check down. Extremely poor tackling on D. Secondary has no instincts. Getting burned week after week. Lastly, the kingpins at Lehigh need to understand; YOU WILL NEVER BE ON PAR WITH THE IVIES! Move on! I am pissed!

Got to give the new coach time getting his guys in there. Patience is required for that. There should be some noticeable culture changes going on that aren’t being seen. In game coaching is at about a C-. Willing to write off this season, but not so much next year.

I don't see the Bucknell win as unexpected. The Bison have played very well this year and have been competitive in most. It usually comes down to the team making the least mistakes when they are relatively matched in personnel. Lehigh is still making mistakes which have cost them at three wins, not because they were blown out. Eliminate the mistakes, you win most your games.

I looked back several posts before...are we lamenting the fact the PL did not invite D3 Gettysburg? Even back in the late 1980's that would have been a ridiculous financial commitment for a D3 school to invest...I'm not suggesting it would be a bad move, but a University president (and board of trustees) would have to be big time D1 fans to jump ship on their current association (the Centennial)...we can talk academics all day long, but Gettysburg could do far worse than hanging around with the likes of Johns Hopkins, Swarthmore, Haverford, and Franklin & Marshall....

Damn the last time we played Gettysburg was in 1981 at Gettysburg as it was our fall break. Anyway I read in Inquirer (pre internet you know) the next morning they jumped out to a 14-0 lead, I think as we were still coming to grips with a big thumping the week before at home vs Colagte, 30-0. This has quietly turned into one of the league's best non-conference showings in quite some time.
After seven weeks --
17-16 overall
1-0 v. PFL
1-0 v. SoCon
6-1 v. NEC
6-7 v. Ivy
2-4 v. CAA
1-4 v. FBS
We have two opportunities left in the non-conference. 1 FBS (HC v. Army), 1 PFL (Bucknell v. Marist).

Lafayette finally pulling its weight with two Ivy wins. Ancient history, but 2009 saw LC achieve four Ivy wins in consecutive weeks with Harvard and Yale not close games. (Believe it or not, I attended a confab where Pres. Dan Weiss--not known as a big sports guy--actually mentioned that streak with understandable pride.) New (somewhat) athletic director and new president are really doing the job. At the present time, football, field hockey and men's soccer are in first place, tied for first, or very close to first place in PL. Men's lacrosse is the up-and-coming team IMO.
Separately, football seems to be in good hands. While Garrett was every bit the recruiter Troxell seems to be IMO, that recent decision "to go for it" late in the first half (v. Princeton) with fourth-and five from Princeton's 15 yard-line and scoring a touchdown was inspiring.

The Bullets have enjoyed tremendous success in the Centennial Conference. The institution has used various "unique" approaches to land well balanced student-athletes. This success and their academic pedigree, PA location made Gettysburg a perfect model for something I am working on for a SEM class as it relates to recruiting practices; literature, emails, snail mail, personal contacts, undergrad, grad, athletes, non-athletes, overall presentation....
The Centennial Conference, Patriot, NESCAC, and Ivy League are all cut from the same cloth. Positioning institutions from the Patriot League like Lehigh up against a MVFC school like the U. of South Dakota is fun. Likewise, Gettysburg or F&M vs Keystone College or Wilkes University....

Agreed, but no one wants to join given the unnecessary competitive barriers put up by the league office. Without it, some combination of Hofstra, Richmond, Monmouth and Bryant would have already joined.
