SLC Week 6 Pick 'Em

For the first time this season, all 8 teams of the Southland Conference will be facing conference foes.
Lamar and Nicholls are 1-0 in conference with road wins at HCU and McNeese, respectively.
HCU is 1-1 with a road win at SLU and the home loss to the Cardinals.
McNeese and SLU are 0-1 both having lost at home.
Northwestern State, UIW, and Commerce will begin league play this week.

I am going with all the home teams this week, but some of these may be really close.
Beware of an upset Lamar! I picked the Cardinals this week, but NSU has been a thorn in my side all season when it comes to picking winners.

i returned the favor and picked mcneese. Didnt pick my cardinals. Our run d has been bad and nwst has owned us the past decade

Before the season started, maybe in the preseason AGS poll, I had Nicholls ranked (not high, but ranked), and I got raked over the coals for it. But Nicholls has a lot of experience returning, a veteran team, and they had some players back for our game that had been out hurt. Now, McNeese made them look better than they are, but in the SLC, they have a good chance to beat everyone but UIW.

LionUp posted in another thread some of the SLU woes. UIW is good, but probably not the power they were last year. Maybe SLU can get it together and upset the Cardinals.

Upset? I dont think anyone beating us would count as an upset!

we seem to be coming along little by little tho. Damn portal took both our o and d lines. Weve yet to start the same 5 on OL. Its been mix and match. And i have no clue who is even gonna be on the field on d line.

We owned all but one minute in first half vs SD. Then they realized they just needed to hand off and run it up the gut.

The voting is split in the game between the Northwestern State Demons and Lamar Cardinals. Interesting.

Will UIW break the unanimous jinx? For the last few weeks, a team receiving all the votes to win has succumbed to a shocking upset. Is a win against UIW in you, SLU?

Backup McNeese QB Tre Simmons has left the team. This makes several who have left voluntarily or have been dismissed from the team just since this season began.

Lots of McNeese/Lamar women's Battle of the Border contests this week. The Cowgirls blasted Lamar 3-0 in volleyball at the Legacy Center last night. Sunday is a big showdown on the Cowgirl pitch between the two schools.

It is so wonderful to have the hated Cardinals back in the SLC. ;-)

When Lamar slaughters McNeese the last game of the season, I am sure the flock will relish it, but it will not be something 10 other teams have not already done during the season. This may be the worst team in McNeese history. But it is what it is whatever it is.

The home teams were all victorious this weekend, and Texas went 3-1 over the Louisiana teams as all four tilts were Louisiana vs. Texas.

Nicholls, which had a tough early schedule and some injuries, seems to be putting it together.

And the Lady Cardinals slipped by the Cowgirls 2-1 on the pitch.
