I know those of us who've had our teams beaten in the playoffs so far feel disappointed; none moresoe than us McNeese fans, who saw their team blown out at home.
But can you imagine being a West Virginia fan right now? All the Mountaineers had to do to get into the BCS championship game was get one more point than a 4-7 team at home. Two of the opponent's wins were over Eastern Michigan and Grambling. Pittsburgh came in 2-7 against BCS league teams.
Yes, it was a rivalry game. Yes, West Virginia lost its starting QB durng the game. But, MAN, that's got to feel awful.
Another testament to the fact that there's a real limit to how predictable football is.

This is like Oregon. They go 8-1, they're lined up in the number two position and ready to play in the title game with a quarterback that would probably win the heisman if they win out. All they have to do is beat Arizona, UCLA, and Oregon State. That seems pretty simple. Oregon is already up on Arizona and basically dominating the game. Then, Dixon goes down, and they get killed by Arizona, and then they lose to UCLA and then lose their final game against Oregon State to finish 8-4 and probably unranked. Instead of playing in the national championship or the Rose Bowl, they'll end up in a lousy bowl like the Holiday Bowl or the Las Vegas Bowl.

It wasn't just Dixon though. I've never seen a team so depleted by injuries like Oregon was this year. They lost 6 starting wide receivers on offense (4 of them before they even beat USC or Arizona State), were down to their 5th string and last QB - lost one of their starting RBs in October (who before he got injured was the team's leading rusher), etc etc.
It's a miracle that the Civil War was even that close yesterday. I don't know who should be more ashamed - Oregon for losing or Oregon State for barely beating a team whose 5th string freshman QB was making his first start with all but one of his WRs freshmen backups as well.

Looks like the Sun Bowl for the Ducks, where the USF Bulls will be waiting.

Another year like this one, and we may be seeing playoffs across the board.
I hope not- I enjoy seeing the FBS flounder in their system.xnodx

Is it me or is Pat White ALWAYS hurt during all of the "Most Important games in WVU History???"
Also......the ref did EVERYTHING (and then some) to help WVU win that game....WVU simply couldn't get the job done (Just like the 80's / early 90's)

Like the USF game, they win if he played the whole game.

Like all the other games he was "injured" in during his career....
Then Pat should've sucked it up and PLAYED and left no doubt....I've seen little high-school kids play with worst injuries than a dislocated thumb on their non-throwing hand....seesh.
Oh well...at least he'll have time to "heal" before their BCS game (whereever they end up).
