Well I'm 94% sure. The two times they played that were "BCS quality" they got beaten pretty handedly. We'll see what happens, this season anything is possible. The true reason I say what I say is I don't like Dennis Erickson(the truth comes out!!xeekxxeekx)

While I CERTAINLY can't gloat about my team I have to say that I do not see Arizona State winning a major bowl. They are overrated this year I can say this from seeing them personally. However they are a young team and I think have the best chance in the Pac 10 other than USC to run the table next year.

i remember listening to the announcers after the game last night and they said ASU wouldn't be invited because of economic values. 2 visiting teams instead of 1 is better for the city.....Tempe will not be happy at all

That's true but West Virginia falling from that #2 dropped them in a perfect spot for that Fiesta Bowl ironically.

That's funny, DDG. They outgained the Ducks, held the ball for 10 minutes longer, had more first downs, more yards passing, and were down by 5 halfway through the third quarter. Not sure how you can say "overrated". And they played an Oregon team that would have finished 11-1 if not for being decimated by injuries. And I think everyone who follows Pac-10 football would agree that the USC team that throttled ASU in the second half on Thanksgiving night was NOT the same team that lost to Stanford on 10/6. I watched every ASU game this year but one, and attend two of them....this team was/is dangerous. Don't judge their performance based on how they played against U of A. We all know rivalry games are a different breed.

ASU has two losses (Oregon and USC). If you've got to have two blemishes on your resume, those aren't two bad ones to have. MUCH better than, say WVU's two losses to USF and PITT(ugh). Or Oklahoma's two losses to Colorado and Texas Tech. Or two of Illinois' THREE losses, to Michigan and Iowa (double-ugh). Or LSU's losses to Kentucky and Arkansas (although it's hard for me to fault a 2-loss SEC team given their brutal schedule). Hawaii is the worst 12-0 team in major college history. They played exactly ONE tough game.

I think ASU would give a better game to whoever ANY of these teams are playing, and I also think they'd give LSU a better game than OSU will. But then, THAT statement could be made about any NON-Big 10 team who was BCS qualified.

That is true that statistically ASU had more yards and TOP but alot of that game in the 4th quarter when the Ducks had secured the game at 35-16 and were running the ball. On top of this Dixon was injured on a drive where he and Stewart were chomping up 6/7 yards a play and could have or could not have scored again making the score 42-16. When Leaf came in obviously things changed and slowed down, but I really think if Dixon had still been in the score would have been much worse.

No smack intended - but Carpenter was dropped on his ass often by one of the lower ranked teams defensively in the Pac 10 when they played at Autzen. Oregon's D-line absolutely took control in the second half of that game. USC more than exposed ASU's weakness in the trenches both offensively and defensively - while the Devils have enough athleticism at the skill positions to compete (see the one handed desparation catches ASU had against Oregon when Carpenter was forcing it in there).

While I do not think ASU would win in the BCS this year - it is hard to argue that they mighta deserved it it because of their record. And I think they will beat Texas in what should be a fantastic matchup at Qualocomm, because the Longhorns rely this year on their skill players like ASU does and I think ASU has the advantage.

No doubt ASU's O-line is it's weak spot this year....and while Oregon took advantage of it, USC absolutely had their WAY with it. There were times during that game that USC looked like Pac-10 and ASU looked like Big Sky. It was THAT BAD. I honestly thought Carpenter was going to get killed. xeekx xeekx

I thought Rudy was going to kill one of his o-linemen. Man was he frustrated!!! But yes ASU's weak spot is the O-line. However they did dominate the second half when you guys played Cal.

Only if you are a conference champion from a non-BCS conference. Otherwise, as an at-large, you are only guaranteed a spot if you are in the top 4

It seems a lot of Texas fans think ASU will win, they say that Texas has a terrible rushing D and that should favor ASU since that has really been our #1 weakness this year. They also seem think we can throw at will on their secondary.

I think it's going to be a good game.

Also, Oregon State got screwed out of the Sun Bowl. Just sayin' xwhistlex

Interesting. Texas fans think they have a terrible rushing D, AND that we'll be able to throw at will on their secondary. Is there an area in which their Defense is acceptable to them? xeyebrowx xeyebrowx xeyebrowx
