It was luck we scored on their defense 6 times. They scored on our 1st team defense um....Once, on a fake punt, and once on a 14-yard field.

Agreed...you have to win the turnover battle and score more points, neither of which we did today. The Appy offense was just too much and we couldnt figure out how to stop them. Late in the game we finally got our offense clicking, but too little too late. Great game to watch and I am proud of my boys for the way they played all season long. A year ago that this point we were reeling from a 3-8 season. Looking forward to another run next year and hopefully our much awaited trip to Chattanooga. Great season Eagles...great game Mountaineers and a hard fought win. Best of luck in the Semis!

App St dominated this game, there is no doubt about it. EWU scored 14 points on special teams. Yes it is part of the game but to see how good a team is you must look mainly at offense and defense. App St's offense is on a roll right now. If their defense and sp can just stay disclinped and not throw games away, no one will beat them. Armanti is just big time PERIOD

Lousy special teams play is just lousy play. Turnovers are major mistakes. The 3-0 in turnovers helped ASU a lot. And yes, special teams were great for EWU. I just don't understand when people look down their noses at special team play, spin it into lousy offense, or whatever.

They said during the game that the commitee will determine who is home next week between ASU and Wofford/Richmond. I didn't realize that was the case. What will do to determine that?

There is no need to try to over-analyze this or any game. It's all part of the game. Whoever has the most points wins, no matter how they got there. That said, all turnovers are not mistakes, some are good execution by the defense, good coverage, stripping the ball, etc. It's pointless, but sometimes fun, I know, to argue these points. ASU did win the game on the statisical side as well. EWU had no 100 yard rusher and not near the passing or total yardage they average. Special teams did play a major role as they usually do, just not always noticed if they aren't as spectacular as they were today.

I know this is off topic but I think I just heard the announcer on tv for the UNI/Del. game say they were going to discuss how Jerry Moore, RODNEY LANDERS and the boys did against EWU today. I didn't know Landers transfered to App this week. SHEESH!!! What idiots.

The eagles only had 2 long drives all day, and one of them was in the last minute of the game when we were playing a prevent defense with second string players. The game was not as close as the score indicated.

More importantly, ASU was the far better team here today. Even if james madison was the better team last week, ASU really came to play against EWU.

Always two (or more) ways to look at things. One could say Appy is lucky to have gotten by JMU. Some could say EWU was lucky to have the score as close at it was. As a Griz fan, I hear isht like this all the time. The fact is the score IS the score, and the team with the most points DOES moveon.

Congrats to both teams. I didn't think EWU played very well at all, but you have to credit Appy for some of that, but as always when teams shoot themselves in the foot, some blame has to be on the team that loses as well as the team that wins.

Playoff football is awesome any way you look at it because there are no excuses, you lose, you go home, you win, you go on.

Wow, besides the last 4 minutes of that game our DEFENSE played GREAT. Thats right our DEFENSE. EWU's first 21 points were all scored or set up off great special teams play. Very happy with our defense until the last few minutes. Overall a good game, and much respect to a good EWU team.

Considering the situation throwing the ball would have been idiotic. Throwing on 4th down was dumb enough. Unless Armati was hurt I have no inclination as to why Trey went in at that point in the game.

Nice game EWU. You may not have played your best, but you certainly brought some credit to your team and to the conference. And a good game from ASU too. Defense DID play pretty well on the whole, but it's the way you finish that counts. Luckily (for ASU's sake) there was offensive firepower available to keep the score in their favor. We're approaching the point where some of ASU's players have an entire extra season's worth of games under their belt since '05.

Putting a second team in, even if it makes a 3-point game out of a 10-point game, seems like a good idea for anybody who wants to coach to play another week.
